James McKenna 1952-2013

GIRARD – James “Mac” McKenna, 61, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at St Elizabeth Health Center.

James was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Youngstown, the son of George F. and Eleanor M. Gilmartin McKenna Sr.

He graduated Liberty High School in 1970 and YSU in 1975.

Mac worked for Earl Scheib from 1978 to 2010. From 1996 to 2010 he was Midwest division manager. Then after that he and his partner formed MacRod Enterprises, and he was a co-owner of independent Earl Sheib in Pittsburgh.

He was a member of St. Rose Church and a social member at the FOE in Girard. From his family’s time living in Cleveland, Mac was a die-hard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, always ending phone calls with his tagline “Go Browns.”

Mac’s proudest accomplishments were those of his two children: Amanda, who is a doctor of physical therapy currently practicing in North Carolina, and Tyler, who is a senior at Youngstown State University, and will be graduating with a business major.

Mac married Lisa Lunich on Sept. 22, 1984.

Besides his wife Lisa, Mac is survived by his son, Tyler James McKenna of Girard; his daughter, Amanda L. McKenna of North Carolina; two brothers, Joseph (Charlene) McKenna of Streetsboro and Mark (Chris) McKenna of Canton, Ga.; and one sister, Patricia (George) Krivan of South Bend, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eleanor, and his brother, George F. McKenna Jr.

There will be a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose Church, where the family will receive family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
