LIBERTY -- A woman reportedly waved a gun at two men after driving erratically and cutting them off.
According to a police report, officers were called to the area of Churchill-Hubbard Road and Belmont Avenue on Wednesday afternoon for a road rage incident, and Trumbull County dispatchers told officers that the caller said a woman in a black truck had a gun and was waving it at him.
The report states officers began looking for the vehicle and dispatchers informed officers that the caller is at his workplace, adding that the suspect vehicle drove past the business, turned around and continued southbound on Belmont Avenue.
The caller, a man, explained to officers that he and his co-worker were transporting medical supplies to a patient when they noticed a black Ford SUV driving erratically southbound on Michigan Boulevard, cutting them off and causing them to stop, acknowledging that they knew who the woman was.
The woman left the vehicle with a black pistol in her hand and began running toward the driver’s side of their vehicle, according to the report.
The man told officers that the woman was a former employee who was terminated weeks prior for bringing a weapon onto company property, continuing to explain that they drove off, but the woman followed them -- pistol in hand -- and they pulled back into the business, noting she was seen traveling southbound on Belmont Avenue.
The report states the man’s coworker shared a similar account, noting that he and the woman used to date and that she’s known to have or carry firearms, and that she has guns at her house and brought one to his residence while they dated.
Officers searched the area of Michigan Boulevard and spoke with residents, who did not have a functioning camera system, and a warrant is to be requested for the woman for two counts of aggravated menacing.
However, court records show only one charge and no indication of a warrant being issued at the time of reporting Thursday evening.
