Massucci, Sheely on NFCA watch list LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Slippery Rock University softball outfielders Alyssa Massucci (Howland) and Alyssa Sheely (Ursuline) have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Player of the Year watchlist, the organization announced Wednesday. Penguins come up short vs. Zips AKRON — Akron hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Youngstown State baseball team 11-10 in a high-scoring non-league contest on Tuesday afternoon at Skeeles Field. YSU softball wins doubleheader to complete sweep of Northern Kentucky

The Youngstown State softball team won both games of Saturday’s home doubleheader against Northern Kentucky to complete the series sweep of the Norse. After beating the Norse 17-3 on Friday, the Penguins won 9-5 and 7-5 on Saturday. With the wins, Youngstown State improved to 17-12 overall and 5-1 in conference play, as the Penguins sit atop the Horizon League standings.
