BASEBALL

Columbiana 23, Leetonia 3 — Hunter Devanzo had three hits, including a pair of doubles and drove in five runs. Beckett Wilson added a pair of hits and three RBIs and Drennen Bosela had two hits, one being a home run and drove in two. Avery Young added a pair of hits for the Clippers and stole two bases, taking the top spot in the Columbiana school record book for steals. Dylan Brown and Gray Henderson had a hit each for Leetonia and Chase Bondi drove in a run.

Newton Falls 7, Brookfield 4 — A five run sixth inning helped Newton Falls break open a 2-1 lead. Leland Vargo led the Tigers with two hits and two RBIs. Zayn Shelton struck out eight in a complete game for Newton Falls, while driving in two runs on offense. Nick Reynolds added a hit and two RBIs. Bray Coleman had two hits and two RBIs for Brookfield. Blake Hammond also had two hits and drove in a run for the Warriors.

Hubbard 5, South Range 4 — Logan Balla and Jonny Adamson had two hits and drove in two runs each for Hubbard. Maddox Pieton added a hit and RBI for the Eagles. On the bump, Braydon Songer struck out 11 in 6.1 innings before Pieton came on to get the last two outs, striking out both. Julian Tranovich had three hits and two RBIs to lead South Range. Tranovich also had an excellent outing on the bump, striking out 11. Gavin Hiscox totaled three hits and an RBI for South Range.

Girard 10, East Palestine 0 — Bobby Levonyak doubled and tripled, driving in three runs for Girard. Carmen Biamonte added a hit and three RBIs for the Indians. Joey Tedesco and Pierson Ginocchi added a hit and an RBI each. The winning pitcher was Kaiden Clare, who struck out seven in five innings for Girard.

Cardinal Mooney 2, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 1 (9 inn.) — Kaden Reese and Johnny Brenner had two hits and an RBI each for Mooney, who won the game on a walk off hit. Taco Verocco added two hits, including a triple and Andrew Bushed doubled for the Cardinals. Alex Slone had two hits and an RBI for SVSM.

Springfield 14, Waterloo 0 — Jacob Myers had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for Springfield. Bruno LaRocca had two hits and Alec Fusco drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Struthers 10, Niles 0 — Travis McMurray led the Struthers offense with three hits and four RBIs. Eddie Bradley added two hits and two RBIs as all nine Struthers starters had at least one hit. Drew Chizmar was the winning pitcher, striking out seven. For Niles, Brixton Gilmour struck out five and had a hit.

Badger 6, Chalker 2 — Bryen Wimsett had two hits and two RBIs for Badger. Jack Harnett added a hit and two RBIs and Lewis Flowers had two hits and struck out four for the Braves. Zack Pack struck out six for Chalker.

Badger 13, Chalker 0 — In game two of their doubleheader, Tyler McWilliams led Badger with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and four strikeouts. Lewis Flowers added two hits and an RBI for the Braves and Ernie Cunningham added a hit and an RBI.

Canfield 13, Warren G. Harding 2 — Jackson Johnson and Jaden Wurst combined for four hits and five RBIs with Wurst driving in three runs for Canfield. Joey Gabriel and Louie Zorella added a hit and drove in two runs each. The Cardinals trio of Anthony Groner, Jake Dovich and Will Murphy had a hit and an RBI each. Dom Polkovitch struck out seven. For Harding, Elias Johnson had a hit and an RBI.

Poland 11, Lakeview 7 — Zach Marantis had four hits and drove in three runs for Poland. Luke Lockeic added three hits and an RBI and Carmine Tukalo and Kelly Memo combined for four hits and five RBIs. Nathan Paolucci had a pair of hits and drove in four runs for Lakeview. Hayden Newton added three hits and drove in two runs and Blake Swinning had three hits.

Maplewood 7, Rootstown 0 — Lexi Yannucci hit a triple and drove in two runs for Maplewood. Yannucci also got the start at pitcher, striking out 6 in three innings. Addison Marker pitched the last four innings in relief and struck out 11 batters. Marker also had two hits and an RBI for the Rockets. Paige Clower also came up big for Maplewood, totaling two hits and driving in two runs. Katie Sisley had two hits for Rootstown.

Hubbard 5, Poland 0 — Haleigh Taylor doubled, totaling three hits and driving in one run for Hubbard. Taylor also pitched a complete game and struck out three. Layla Songer added a hit and drove in two runs for the Eagles. Madison Medvec had 10 strikeouts for Poland.

Brookfield 19, Newton Falls 4 — Cassi Samios recorded five hits and drove in four runs for the potent Brookfield offense. Samios also struck out six. Luciana Kolat had three hits and three RBIs, Madison Obermiyer added three more hits for the Warriors, driving in four runs and Mariah Norris had three hits and an RBI. Elaina Boyce, Alana Jervis and Aubrey Cabrera added two hits and an RBI each. Madison Davis had a hit and drove in two for Newton Falls. Kylee Lance added a double and an RBI for the Tigers.

Lakeview 18, Struthers 0 — Rylee Barnot had two hits and three RBIs to lead Lakeview, as nine different players had at least one hit and 11 drove in at least one run. Klaryssa Werner added two hits and two RBIs and Talor Ash had a hit and drove in two for the Bulldogs.

Austintown Fitch 6, Boardman 3 — Kylie Folkwein hit a monster grand slam to keep Fitch (17-0) unbeaten. Mila Hamley struck out eight in another excellent outing for the Falcons. Alyssa Rodgers added two hits and an RBI and Abby Toth doubled and drove in a run. Gabi Sferra and Ellie Wymer had a hit each for Boardman.
