High school scoreboard – 04/13

BASEBALL

Ursuline 15, Struthers 2 – R. Urbach drove in five runs on three hits and scored three times as Ursuline exploded for 16 hits. L.Stoney added three hits and an RBI and H. DeLuca and J. Gocala combined for four hits and five RBI’s with Gocala bringing three runners home. G. Aurilio also had a huge game for the Irish driving in three runs on three hits. Drew Chizmar had two hits and an RBI for Struthers.

Warren JFK 11, Heartland Christian 1 – Lucas Mealy, Jacob Liber and Graham Seese had a hit and drove in two runs each for JFK. Seese also got the start at pitcher and struck out seven. Lucas Morrison, Dylan Sforza, and Trevon Rick had a hit and RBI each for the Eagles.

LaBrae 2, Newton Falls 0 – Logan Brunstetter struck out 11 batters and allowed just two hits to lead LaBrae in a pitching match up where only four hits were allowed combined. Jacob Simpson had a hit and RBI for the Vikings. Eric Reibold had the other Vikings hit and John Kinkade drove in a run. LeLand Vargo struck out nine for Newton Falls and had a hit on offense. Michael Bennett had the other Tigers hit.

Lakeview 5, Niles 0 – Isaiah Lantz had two hits and an RBI for Lakeview. Hayden Newton, Nathan Paolucci and Jacob Shaker had a hit and RBI each for the Bulldogs. Blake Swinning was the winning pitcher, striking out four. Brennen Hodge had two hits for Niles.

Cardinal Mooney 4, Lake Center Christian 0 – Will Petty led Mooney with two hits and two RBI’s. Todd Jones added two hits and an RBI and Ryan Reese and Andrew Bushey had a pair of hits each for the Cardinals.

Mineral Ridge 8, Waterloo 0 – Preston Kline threw a no hitter, striking out 15 batters and walking just four in a shut out win for Mineral Ridge. Ethan Vestorsky had two hits and an RBI for the Rams. Xavier Klamer and Gavin Harding had a hit and two RBI’s each with Harding hitting a triple.

Poland 9, South Range 2 – Zack Marantis had three hits and an RBI to lead Poland. Carmine Tukalo added two hits and an RBI and Dylan Kelty belted a three-run home run for the Bulldogs. Kelly Memo added to the offense with one hit and two RBI’s. G. Hiscox and M. Aey had a hit and RBI each for South Range.

Badger 13, Maplewood 7 – Badger’s duo of Lewis Flowers and Tyler McWilliams had two hits and three RBI’s each. Ernie Cunningham added a pair of hits and RBI’s and Wyatt Webb had a hit and two RBI’s for the Braves. Tyson Webster led Maplewood with two hits and an RBI. Josh Suba added two RBI’s and a hit for the Rockets.

Ashtabula St. John 13, Mathews 2 – C. Clutter struck out five batters for St. John. G. Petros had two hits to lead the offense. Caleb Nicula had a double for Mathews.

Brookfield 11, Liberty 1 – Joe Hook had three hits and two RBI’s to lead Brookfield. Bray Coleman added a pair of doubles and three RBI’s for the Warriors. Mike Pisarcik totaled two hits and an RBI.

Canfield 9, Boardman 2 – Anthony Groner had three hits and an RBI at the plate, including a pair of triples. As Canfield’s starting pitcher, Groner struck out nine. Ryan Weibling added three hits and two RBI’s and Jake Dovich drove in three runs with a hit for the Cardinals. Ryan Neifer drove in a run and doubled for Boardman.

Springfield 8, Salem 3 – Alec Fusco had four hits and two RBI’s to lead Springfield. Ben Catlos added three hits and two RBI’s, including a double and a home run for the Tigers. Ben Kuboff drove in two runs for Salem.

South Range 19, Niles 0 – G. Spooner had four hits and two RBI’s to lead South Range. S. Brogan had two hits and an RBI, including a home run and H. Bartels had two hits and two RBI’s for the Raiders. K. Brogan, A. Thompson, K. Dance and A. Bowen had a hit and RBI each.

SATURDAY

Springfield 9, Lowellville 0 – Jackson Ensley pitched a complete game shutout for Springfield, striking out 12 while allowing just two hits. Cooper Ensley powered the Tigers offense with three hits and 3 RBI’s. Ben Catlos and Jaxon Minnetonka doubled and drove in two runs each. Zak Sargent and Kasen Smith had a hit each for Lowellville.

Springfield 10, Lowellville 0 – Jaxon Minnetti struck out eight in five innings to lead Springfield to a sweep of the doubleheader. Noah Troggio had two hits, two RBI’s and four runs scored for the Tigers. Minnetti added a pair of doubles and two RBIs on offense.

SOFTBALL

Maplewood 11, Badger 0 – Addison Marker was lights out once again for Maplewood, striking out 14 batters. Marker also contributed heavily on offense with three hits and an RBI. Claire Urchek and Raegan Krieg combined for four hits and five RBI’s with Urchek driving in three runs for the Rockets. Samantha Krieg added a hit and RBI and Paige Clower had a pair of hits.

LaBrae 16, Newton Falls 1 – Riley Rowe had three doubles and a home run for LaBrae, driving in five runs. Mariah Jones added three hits and three RBI’s for the Vikings. Morgan Thompson also drove in three runs along with a pair of hits. Leah DeArmitt had eight strikeouts for LaBrae. Madison Davis and Madalyn Knight had a hit each and Kirra Howard drove in Newton Falls’ lone run.

Hubbard 14, Sharpsville PA 2 – Layla Songer had a pair of triples and a home run, driving in four runs for Hubbard, who had 16 hits in total. Haleigh Taylor had another stellar outing for the Eagles, striking out seven and having three hits and two RBI’s on offense, including a double and triple. Ashley Masluk added two hits and three RBI’s and Izzie Slifka and Morgan Thompson had two hits and an RBI each. Rachel Pifer struck out six for Sharpsville, while Dava Masters led the offense with two hits for the Blue Devils.

Cardinal Mooney 21, Warren Harding 8 – Justice Paris led Mooney with two hits and three RBI’s. Alexis McKinstry and Taylor Watts had two hits and two RBI’s each for the Cardinals. Watts also scored four runs. Paris and McKinstry combined for 10 strikeouts with Paris striking out 10. Jayda Hayes, Azarriah Phillips and Alycia Vaughn had two hits each for Harding. Phillips drove in four runs and Hayes had one RBI for the Raiders.

Austintown Fitch 14, Howland 2 – Kylie Folkwein had four hits, including a pair of home runs and three RBI’s to lead the explosive Fitch offense. Abby Toth also homered and had a single, driving in two runs for the Falcons. Morgan Roby had a pair of hits and RBI’s and Seneca Coates and Veda Burt had two hits each with Burt bringing home a run. Alyssa Rodgers contributed to the offense as well with a hit and two RBI’s. Brooklyn VanNess had two hits for Howland.

Brookfield 15, Liberty 4 – Alana Jervis had two hits and three RBI’s for Brookfield. Elaina Boyce added two hits and two RBI’s for the Warriors. McKenna Powell drove in three runs and had a triple and Cassi Samios added two hits and two RBI’s. Abby Harris had two hits for Liberty and Isabella Hernandez had a hit and two RBI’s.

Brookfield 16, Liberty 1 – Maci Phillips had a home run and a triple, driving in four runs for Brookfield. Cassi Samios added three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors. Madison Obermiyer had three hits and an RBI and Luciana Kolat and Elaina Boyce had two hits and an RBI each. Obermiyer also struck out seven as the winning pitcher. Meleinah West had a hit and RBI for Liberty.

Columbiana 6, Wellsville 0 – Ella Eisenbraun struck out eight and had an RBI for Columbiana (6-2). Kyla Hogan led the Clippers with three hits. Callahan Ward drove in a run and had two hits, while Alexis Sperling had two hits and an RBI.

Columbiana 15, Wellsville 1 – Reagan Bell had three hits and an RBI at the plate and struck out six as the starting pitcher. Landry Smith added a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Clippers. Alexis Sperling drove in two runs and Brooke McKim and Josie Hepler had two hits each. Madelyn Landess had a hit and RBI for Wellsville.

Poland 17, Struthers 0 – Sydney Bulick and Ali Blinsky had four hits each to lead Poland. Bulick had 4 RBI’s and Blinsky drove in three runs. Leanna Boccieri hit a triple with the bases loaded, driving in three runs and Madison Medvec had an RBI double. Riley Guy had the lone hit of the game for Struthers.
