BASEBALL
Cardinal Mooney 10, Columbiana 0 – Ryan Reese drove in three runs and had a hit to lead Mooney to a five inning victory. Andrew Bushey added two hits, including a triple and two RBI’s and Ben Oddis had two RBI’d and a hit for the Cardinals. Taco Verocco also added a hit and an RBI. Luke Coller and Ryan Reese combined for a no hitter on the mound, striking out three and one batter respectively.
Field 15, Warren JFK 4 – Caden Kolesar had a triple and a home run and drove in three runs for Field. He also started on the bump and struck out six. For JFK, Lucas Mealy had two hits and two RBI’s.
Newton Falls 14, Liberty 0 – Newton Falls pitcher LeLand Vargo struck out 13 batters in a dominate performance. Vargo only allowed one hit. The Tigers offense took off in the fifth inning when they scored nine runs. Hunter Persin and Nick Reynolds had two hits each for the Tigers and Georgie Phillips and Tyler Stinson drove in two runs each.
Hubbard 9, Niles 0 – Jonny Adamson had three hits and an RBI and got the start on the hill for the Eagles, and struck out seven. Lucas Alexander was also hot, notching three hits and driving in two runs. Braydon Songer added two doubles and an RBI for Hubbard and Colten Yobe also had two hits.
LaBrae 10, Champion 6 – Landon Brunstetter had two hits and three RBI’s for LaBrae. John Kincade and Jacob Simpson added two hits each for the Vikings. Chase Veaey, Carter Chapin and Lucas Reed had two hits each for Champion.
Canfield 9, Salem 0 – Anthony Groner struck out 10 batters in five innings to lead Canfield. Groner di damage at the plate as well, smashing a three run home run. Ryan Weibling added three hits, including a double and an RBI. Joey Gabriel also came up big for the Cardinals with two hits and an RBI.
Girard 5, Struthers 3 – Camron Herrick pitched a complete game for Girard, striking out 13 batters. The Indians offense was led by Joey Alejars who had four hits and an RBI. Pierson Gonocchi and Kaiden Clare had a hit and two RBI’s each and Jaden Royal and Carmen Biamonte had a hit each. Eddie Bradley had a hit and an RBI for Struthers.
Springfield 22, Campbell 0 – Cooper Ensley had two hits and three RBI’s to lead Springfield. Jackson Ensley scored three runs, drove in three RBI’s and struck out nine batters on the bump for the Tigers. Ben Catlos also drove in three runs while Alec Fusco and Brock Masello had two hits each with Fusco driving in and scoring the runs.
Mathews 13, Lordstown 3 – Jared Pegg and Kam Kester led Mathews with three hits and three RBI’s. Colton Kish also had three hits for the Mustangs and Caleb Nicula had a triple with three RBI’s.
Poland 6, Boardman 3 – Zack Marantis and David Vlosich had one hit and two RBI’s each to lead Poland. Kelly Memo also had two hits for the Bulldogs. Tyler Helmick had three hits and an RBI for Boardman.
Harding 6, Ashtabula Lakeside 5 – Kwame Adams had an RBI double for Harding. Da’Rone Pennick added a hit and three RBI’s for the Raiders.
Howland 12, Streetsboro 1 – Richie Ansel had a two run double to kick off an eight fun sixth inning for Howland. Santino Minnitti added a two run single and Sam Gryzelewski drove in two runs in the inning.
Southern 4, Leetonia 2 – Mason Pitts had two hits, two RBI’s and struck out six as the starting pitcher for Southern Local. Jack Pitts added a hit and an RBI. Dylan Brown, Dominic Lewis, Jason King and Gray Henderson had a hit each for Leetonia.
SOFTBALL
Mooney 5, Field 2 – Grace Rinaldi doubled twice and drove in three runs for Mooney. Lexi McKinstry hit a homerun and pitched a complete game, striking out 16 batters for the Cardinals.
Maplewood 12, Grand Valley 0 – Addison Marker powered the Maplewood offense with four hits and an RBI. Katie Wear and Raegan Krieg added a hit and two RBI’s each for the Rockets. Marker was also the starting pitcher and struck out 11 batters.
Springfield 12, Campbell 1 – Makenna Wymer went 3 for 3 scoring two runs and driving home two more for Springfield. Brooklyn Chacko added two hits and two RBI’s and Gina Romeo had two hits for the Tigers.
Hubbard 13, Niles 2 – Haleigh Taylor had two hits and four RBI’s to lead Hubbard. Taylor also struck out 10 as the starting pitcher for the Eagles. Ashley Muslak added three hits and an RBI and Lylah Taylor had three hits and three RBI’s. Izzi Slifka added two more hits and three more runs for the Eagles.
Mathews 16, Lordstown 0 – Sophomore Sydnie Nelson threw her first career no-hitter for the Mustangs in a big win over Lordstown. Sara Geilhard, Liz Rowan, Marina Eagle, Livvy Tarr, and Molly Woodall each recorded two hits. Geilhard hit a double and a triple. Mathews is now 2-0 on the season.
Crestview 7, Brookfield 3 – Alivia Shetler led Crestview with two hits and four RBI’s, including a triple. Gia Depace had two hits including a home run and Makayla McKee had a home run and two RBI’s.
Girard 18, Struthers 2 – No stats were provided.
Champion 9, LaBrae 0 – Addie McIntosh struck out 10 to get the win for Champion. McIntosh also homered. Jonna Strock had three hits and two RBI’s and Ava Sylvester added a double and home run for the Flashes with three RBI’s. Shelby Bragg had three hits for LaBrae.
