Grand Valley 72, Open Door Christian 43 — Grand Valley (19-4) lit up the scoreboard, led by Carter Turk with 22 points. Solomon Schultz added 18 points, including three 3-pointers and Payton Plizga scored 11 for the Mustangs. Brayden Benoik led all scorers with 24 points for Open Door.

Newton Falls 77, Rittman 40 — Dallas Dunlap led the Newton Falls offense with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Drayson Moore added 18 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Phil Davis (15 points) and Leland Vargo (10) also scored in double digits for the Tigers. Christian DuBiel scored 20 to lead Rittman.

Badger 55, Leetonia 45 — In a game tied at 13 after one quarter, Badger used a 16-0 third quarter to pull away. The Braves were led by Tyler McWilliams. McWilliams scored 24 points, with 18 coming in the first half. Alton Winchek added 12 points. Leetonia was led by Dylan Johns with 14 points and Ethan Mathia with 12.

Maplewood 56, Jackson-Milton 40 — David Kern scored 14 to lead Maplewood. Ethan Nevinski added 11 for the Rockets. Steve Manes was also a key contributor with nine points. Jackson Horner scored 15 points to lead Jackson-Milton.

Western Reserve 58, Lowellville 46 — Josh Klasic (16 points) and Connor Cochran (15) led the Western Reserve offense. Cornerstone Christian 60, Bristol 42 — Jaxson Croyts scored 23 points, leading Cornerstone Christian. Darrien Davis (15 points) and RJ McCain (12) were also top scorers for Cornerstone. Seth Miller and Parker Gall scored a combined 21 points for Bristol, with Miller scoring 11.

SWIMMING & DIVING

The girls swimming and diving state championship got underway for local competitors on Wednesday. The area had two girls compete in Division II diving.

Poland’s Mckenna Daley took 13th with a final score of 333.85. Girard’s Addison Silverman was 26th with a 129.15 in the preliminaries.

The Division I preliminaries are today, along with the Division II finals.
