‘Warren Football Legends’ returns to city
Warren’s football legends are returning to Trumbull County again this summer.
On June 21, Ray Yannucci and Paul Warfield, the former Cleveland Brown and Warren G. Harding football standout, will host the Warren Football Legends at Trumbull Country Club in Warren. The Ninth Annual Celebration Dinner that day, with the golf outing on June 22.
The combo cost for the dinner and golf outing is $225 per person.
With Ed DeBartolo Jr. as one of the major donors, The Warren Gridiron Club raised $250,000 for the Warren Harding football program over the last eight years.
The celebrity panel at the dinner will feature “145 Years of Cleveland Browns Media.” It includes Cleveland Browns beat writers Mary Kay Cabot (Plain Dealer and cleveland.com), Tony Grossi (ESPN) and Mara Ridenour (Akron Beacon Journal). Yannucci will moderate the panel. It will include a question and answer session.
The June 21 dinner includes a social hour, four-hour open bar and a charcuterie. The dinner includes: salad with braised beef short ribs, chicken parmesan, pork tenderloin or pasta with two sauces, Italian wedding cookies and chocolates for dessert.
Seven foursome spots are still available for the 18-hole golf outing at Trumbull County Club. The winning team will receive $1,000.
The outing includes registration prizes of $50 value, several competition events (Hole-in-One Contest on No. 17, Closest to Pin on No. 3, 5, 12 and 17 and Longest Drive on No. 1 and 18), a pre-golf brunch, beverages and snacks on the course. There’s also a 50/50 raffle and Trumbull Country Club foursome raffle. Afterward, golfers can attend a dinner that includes a charcuterie, ribs, chicken, sausage and peppers with a couple of side dishes, Italian wedding cookies and chocolates.
Registration for the golf outing is 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
The two-day event will not be canceled due to weather, and awards will still be given out in that case. If golf is canceled while on the course, it will become a nine-hole event with competition prizes issued on the nine-hole format. If less than nine holes are played, prizes will be awarded via drawing with the buffet and open bar still being served.
If Trumbull Country Club deems the course is unplayable, 18-hole rain checks will be issued upon request. If the course is playable but the Gridiron Club decides not to play, rain checks will not be issued. If play is canceled and less than 12 holes are played, nine-hole rain checks will be issued upon request. If play is canceled and 12 holes have been played, rain checks will not be issued.
To play, contact Yannucci via email at ryannucci@yahoo.com or by phone at 2168701036.
