The 2023-2024 season has flown by and OHSAA's postseason tournament is set to begin in the coming weeks.
After sectional, districts and regionals, the state playoffs culminate with the OHSAA Girls Basketball State Championships from March 14-16 at the University of Dayton Area in Dayton
Four area teams have earned top-four seeds in their respective brackets, including No. 2 Badger (18-2) and No. 4 Warren JFK (13-4) in Division IV, No. 3 Crestview (21-0) in Division III and No. 4 West Branch (17-2) in Division II.
In Division I, No. 11 seed Boardman will face No. 46 Massillon Perry in the Northeast 1 district on Feb. 17, while No. 17 seed Austintown Fitch is in the Northeast 2 district and will face the winner of No. 37 Canton McKinley and No. 31 Cleveland St. Joseph Academy on Feb. 22 after receiving a bye.
No. 32 seed Warren G. Harding and No. 44 seed Chaney are both in the Northeast 4 district. The Raiders will open their tournament against No. 36 Westlake on Feb. 17, while the Cowgirls have a bye and face the winner between No. 58 Cleveland Heights and No. 16 Louisville on. Feb. 22
In Division II, No. 4 seed West Branch is the highest seeded local team in the division. The Warriors are in the Northeast 2 district and will open their postseason against No. 59 Akron Coventry on Feb. 21. Meanwhile, Howland earned a No. 8 seed in the Northeast 4 district and will face No. 58 Ravenna in its first-round matchup on Feb. 21. No. 12 Canfield is in the Northeast 3 district and takes on No. 52 Sheffield Brookside on Feb. 21 in the sectional semifinal.
There are two local matchups in the Northeast 3 district of Division II. No. 21 seed Girard will face No. 34 Youngstown East, while No. 39 Struthers will play No. 30 Salem. Both games are on Feb. 21.
No. 3 seed Crestview is the top local team in Division III. The undefeated Rebels are set to face No. 44 Willoughsby Andrews Osborne in their sectional semifinal on Feb. 21 in the Northeast 1 district. No. 45 Campbell, No. 41 Liberty and No. 38 Lakeview are all also in Crestview's bracket.
No. 9 seed Mineral Ridge and No. 10 seed Columbiana both have first-round byes in the Northeast 2 district. In that same bracket, No. 16 seed Champion will face No. 25 seed Cardinal Mooney in an all-local contest on Feb. 21.
In the Northeast 3 district of Division III, LaBrae is the No. 14 seed and faces No. 23 Creston Norwayne on. Feb. 21 in round one, while No. 22 Poland gets No. 21 Pymatuning Valley on Feb. 24.
Finally, in Division IV, No. 2 seed Badger has a first-round bye in the Northeast 2 district and will face the winner of No. 21 Jackson-Milton and No. 24 Ashtabula St. John on Feb. 24 in the sectional final. No. 4 Warren JFK is on the opposite side of the same district bracket and will open its postseason against No. 36 Leetonia on Feb. 21.
No. 20 seed McDonald will face No. 15 Lowellville in an all-local matchup in the Northeast 3 district of Division IV
Other high local seeds in Division IV include, No. 12 Windham, No. 8 Western Reserve, No. 10 Maplewood and No. 5 Springfield.
