YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State men's and women's basketball teams each will continue their seasons Wednesday night at the Beeghly Center.
As part of a double-header, the women's team will open its WNIT campaign against regional foe Kent State at 5:30 p.m., and then the men will follow at 8 against Morgan State.
The WNIT appearance is YSU's fourth in the past 10 years and sixth postseason appearance in the same span. The Penguins enter at 24-6 overall and earned the Horizon League's automatic bid as regular season co-champions.
Kent State went 18-11 overall this season. Wednesday will mark the 46th meeting all-time between the Flashes and Penguins and first since 2019.
The YSU men went 18-14. This marks the Penguins' third Division I postseason appearance and second in the last three seasons.
Morgan State is 13-14 and was a semifinalist in the MEAC Tournament. The programs have met just once before -- an 88-64 YSU victory on Dec. 30, 1985.
