The Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association released the All-Northeast Inland District basketball teams today to honor the top players from parts of Stark, Summit, Portage, Medina, Wayne, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mahoning and Ashland counties.
The teams are selected by a media panel from those areas and several players from around the Mahoning Valley were honored for their spectacular seasons in 2021-2022.
Garfield's Jenna Smith averaged 20.2 points and 12.2 rebounds this season and earned player of the year honors for Division III All-District after leading the G-Men to a District title.
The final Mahoning Valley representatives were the Bristol tandem of Belle Zirzow and John King. Zirzow scored 22.9 points per game this season and grabbed 10 rebounds to earn Division IV player of the year honors.
King took home coach of the year honors after the Panthers racked up a record of 22-4.
