Fitch swept meet at Poland
Fitch swept the competition on Saturday at the Poland Invitational, with the Falcon boys outscoring McDonald, 128-87, and the Fitch girls winning with 88 points to runnerup Garfield’s 71. McDonald was third in the girls competition with 63 points, and Springfield was third on the boys side with 64.
Niles sprinter Chante Clinkscale won the girls Iron Bulldog award for most points scored in the meet, and also was the girls running MVP. She won the 100 and 200, setting a meet record in the latter, and anchored the runner-up 4×100 relay team.
Brody Rupe of McDonald won the boys Iron Bulldog and was running MVP with a win in the 800, a second in the 1600 and a leg in two victorious relay teams, the Blue Devils’ 4×800 and 4×400.
Boys field events MVP was JaMeire Robinson of Fitch with a first in the discus and second in the shot put. Mia Malito of Girard won the girls field MVP with a first in the long jump and a third in the high jump.
