Champion cancels events

CHAMPION — Two positive COVID-19 tests on a Champion High School athletic team, and a third student-athlete exhibiting symptoms has caused the school district to postpone events this week in football and boys and girls soccer.

The school district made the announcement on Wednesday and home soccer games scheduled that night against Newton Falls were postponed. Also postponed are the school’s football game on Friday against Brookfield and soccer matches on Saturday against Lakeview.

In a statement, the school district said any student who could be affected by exposure is being contacted and will be quarantined from school and all athletic events for the required 14 days from the possible exposure.
