Donald Trump rally story was written with bias

DEAR EDITOR:

I find it rich that today's front page (10/13/2026) article that President Trump has come to the Mahoning Valley to stump for U.S. Senator Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was written by Mr. David Skolnick. Obviously, Hillary Clinton or Barbara Streisand were not available at press time.

Mr. Skolnick's opening paragraph illustrates his bias against President Donald John Trump, his administration and Republicans in general. I still remember the beautiful articles Mr. Skolnick would write about the next President of the United States, former U.S. Rep. Timothy Ryan. The Warren Tribune and its paying subscribers would be much better served by hiring journalists that do not have an apparent agenda.

GOP is still for good old boys

DEAR EDITOR:

Niki Frenchko was right about one thing, this is a good old boy Republican Party. The voters voted Denny Malloy out and the Republican Party gave him a cushy job. So why vote Republican when they dont care about your vote.

If you want to get elected, run as a Republican, and you will still vote with the Dems. This is what we call a RINO. The Republicans have a lot of them now. Malloy needs to step down and most of the committee needs to resign.

This is NO longer a Republican county, it is a RINO county. This should have never taken place with Malloy. Frenchko was right all along about him. We have a RINO governor, senator and Republican head. The Dems will take over because of this.

It's time Ohio voters retired Sherrod Brown (again)

DEAR EDITOR:

The draw to power must be irresistible for Sherrod Brown, who has spent the better part of his life as a politician who supports abortion and gun control. He has protection and wants to take away your right to defend yourself. He also firmly supports the Affordable Care Act, which made healthcare unaffordable for several self-employed people. At a veterans' small business conference right after Obama was elected, when the economy was in a downturn, Sen. Brown gave a speech. After his speech, he invited veterans to voice their concerns. Talking to him directly that day and asking him to look into simplifying the business tax process in order to free up an entrepreneur's time from tax prep to business growth was disappointing. His response was a cheesy grin while shrugging his shoulders, with no words.

That answers everything you need to know about Sherrod Brown: a straight-down-the-line vote for all the Democratic issues that strip away your rights, and strong support for collectivism, including abortion, DEI initiatives and so on. The Democratic Party line is increasingly a coalition built around social justice, which simply translates to encouraging class envy and dividing people into two classes: the oppressed and the oppressors. This is Marxism 101, which strips away your individual rights and ensures the state controls your life for the betterment of society, in their twisted thinking.

The ads that are being run for Ohio's governor race are ridiculous, to say the least, on both sides. Just put out the facts on performance and not the besmirching personal attacks. Voting priorities come down to just a few facts that depend on one's personal beliefs on liberty, public safety, individual freedom or collectivism, and ever-expanding government power through government programs that limit personal freedom along with diminishing personal accountability.

It's actually that simple: Are you a person who acts like a responsible adult? Or are you an adult with the mindset of a child who wants everyone else to take care of you? We have way too many adult children in our society who refuse to grow up, and the current social programs are not encouraging or providing a path to self-reliance but are doing the exact opposite. Making these people reliant on government programs for generations is despicable. When you remove a person's will for self-improvement by providing for all their needs year after year without any expectation, you are not helping them; you are demoralizing them and training them to be dependent children. Who is happier, a self-reliant individual or a dependent?

If you don't earn something, does it have value, or is it just taken for granted? Make your vote count for the dignity of all citizens.

Taxpayers shouldn't fund a pay raise in Warren

DEAR EDITOR:

A fundamental tenet of public service is adherence to constitutional law and statutory transparency. Regrettably, the city of Warren administration continues to tolerate a severe breach of these principles. For several weeks, Sixth Ward Councilwoman Honeya Price has maintained an unlawful communication block against me on her public-facing social media channel -- a platform routinely utilized to execute municipal business, publish public notices, and interface with constituents. This targeted restriction was instituted solely because I submitted formal inquiries regarding her office's reliance on generative artificial intelligence to ghostwrite public administrative updates.

Under the definitive standard established by the U.S. Supreme Court in Lindke v. Freed, such actions constitute unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination under the First Amendment. Furthermore, because these digital platforms serve as repositories for contemporaneous public information, suppressing citizen access directly subverts the mandate of the Ohio Public Records Act, Ohio Revised Code Section 149.43. Law Director Enzo Cantalamessa and the broader council body have been formally notified of this liability, yet their ongoing inaction signals a troubling disregard for civil liberties.

While the council utilizes automated algorithmic prompts to simulate public engagement, rigorous, boots-on-the-ground scientific advocacy is occurring independently. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Lower Lake Erie Region CSI registry have officially reviewed, verified, and mapped my ecological field data documenting state-protected native freshwater river mussels (Family Unionidae) within our local watershed.

Under Ohio Revised Code Section 1533.324, these species are strictly protected by state law. Moving forward with high-density infrastructure or industrial data center zoning variances without exhaustive, site-specific biological surveys exposes the city of Warren to severe administrative penalties and protracted environmental litigation. It is a profound administrative failure to promote localized surface-level "cleanup" initiatives while quietly utilizing resource-intensive, high-carbon technological tools behind closed doors, then unlawfully censoring the researcher who exposes the ecological contradiction.

Compounding this lack of accountability is the council's recent legislative action to nearly double their own part-time salaries to over $20,000 annually, claiming round-the-clock municipal duties. If public officials are outsourcing their primary communicative responsibilities to artificial intelligence and unlawfully insulating themselves from public oversight by blocking voters, they fail to meet the statutory definition of active representation. Public funds should not subsidize an automated prompt window.

I urge my fellow residents to join me in voting "YES" on the upcoming citizen-led ballot initiative to completely repeal these unmerited council pay raises. More critically, I demand that the Law Director immediately execute his administrative authority to ensure Councilwoman Price lifts this unconstitutional block and restores my lawful access to all official municipal communications.

Willful ignorance ongoing in Washington, D.C.

DEAR EDITOR:

Science fiction aficionados will remember the courtroom scene in "Planet of the Apes" in which the orangutan judges, when faced with TRUTH choose to put their hands over their eyes, ears or mouth. This is a Hollywood depiction of willful ignorance with a play on the Japanese monkey adage of See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil. Willful Ignorance is an intentional choice to look the other way rather than admit the truth of a matter.

Willful ignorance is on display every day in Washington, DC. The Republicans are in control of Congress! Yet, they read Trump's crazed tweets that foment war and do nothing. They hear his bizarre rally speeches that seek to divide our country and do nothing. Freedom of the Press is being suppressed daily and they do nothing. Republicans in Congress are allowing this administration to treat our Right to Vote as only a privilege. Republicans in Congress are quietly acquiescing to the gutting of our top officers from the armed services and have allowed us to be drawn into a never-ending war with Iran. Trump is using taxpayer funds for vanity projects without pushback.

Consequences for Republicans? Vote them out!

Vote for Kristen Rock for Trumbull commissioner

DEAR EDITOR:

I have known Kristen Rock for many years, and I have walked the campaign trail with her for over these past months. I joined her at summer parades, special events and fundraisers, and I knocked on doors with her in neighborhoods across Trumbull County. I have watched her interact with countless people, and I have consistently seen the positive impression she leaves.

Kristen has a genuine sincerity that resonates with the folks she meets. She introduces herself and discusses their concerns. She puts Trumbull County and her goals as Trumbull County Commissioner into plain words. Her vision for economic development and medical care are the pillars of her focus, and they are what the people of Trumbull County can count on. That message has not wavered from day one. Her life experience ensures that, if elected, her share of the county budget will be handled with the same discipline.

Kristen is focused and she is smart, and without reservation I would describe her as a doer. I would describe her as diligent, organized and very detail-oriented. Kristen has not wavered from any task, big or small, since we have worked together on the campaign trail. She is a consummate professional.

Kristen is an attorney and a mother of four. She has given that same attention to her beautiful family, and she has been married to Dr. Jason Rock, MD, for 24 years.

She has given that same commitment to this community, in the schools and in volunteer work. She would bring it to the commissioner's office for one reason: so that integrity and professionalism enter public service and so that our elected leaders remain accountable to residents while improving the quality of life.

Let's get to work. Vote for Kristen Rock for Trumbull County Commissioner.

Beware of the intersection of religion, government

DEAR EDITOR:

Religion has become cross-threaded in the minds of many. I can't recall this in catechism.

When people reference God in public, they are usually referring to a supreme, supernatural being who created and rules the universe.

The separation of church and state means that government and religious institutions must remain separate and independent from one another.

What happens when politicians cross that line to bring more followers into their flocks?

How many times in the past, for example, have we heard about President Trump's alignment with God?

Trump declares divine mission, he is on a mission from God and nothing can stop what is coming.

Being an avid reader, I was surprised to come upon these facts:

Nazi Germany's regular army, the Wehrmacht (specifically the Heer or land forces), wore embossed on their belt buckles the motto "Gott mit uns," or "God with us."

Their atrocities, therefore, were carried out, shockingly, under the heading 'God with us.'

Again, religion has become a cross-threaded in the minds of many.

The traditional opening phrase used by Catholics entering confession is "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned."
