I have received mail and text messages from campaigns trying to smear their opponents. One was so awful it was exploiting the death of a man to gain political points. If people running for office don't have enough merit of their own to run on, they don't deserve my vote. These text messages are blocked and the mail goes in the trash. If a candidate goes that low, they don't deserve my vote. Stop the dirty politics. We're all tired of it.

Once again the Democrats showed how crazy they really are. When President Trump said he was going to destroy the Iranian culture, they wanted to impeach him or use the 25th Amendment to remove him. Then when President Trump agreed to a ceasefire, they said he'd chicken out. Do they know how foolish they sound? I can't believe that these people let one man control their whole lives. I don't know how they live like this. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

When will Howland trustees call Warren Mayor William "Douglas" Franklin and tell him the midnight fireworks he allows adversely affects the residents that they represent? When will they explain to this mayor that midnight fireworks, even for Greek Easter, are senseless and should not be allowed because even if Warren residents don't mind hearing them at midnight, people outside the city do mind. If a Howland resident set up fireworks at night, Howland police would show up. Why do we have to live with this every year because Mayor "Doug" seems to be afraid to tell this church no.

Commissioner Denny Malloy will do anything for reelection. This now includes underfunding the Prosecutor's Office of Dennis Watkins because he's a Democrat. Malloy stated that there are 3 Republican Commissioners being told to fund the lone Democrat Department. What Mal-loy fails to realize is that Prosecutor Watkins is a hero of our county! This is a man who has helped lead Trumbull County through some of our darkest times and crimes against our communities. Shame on Malloy!

Received Ms. Pratt's mailer. I'm sure the wife of the accident did too. Poor taste. By law, Judge Campbell can't discuss specifics of the case. Voters beware, Ms. Pratt should have known this. Ms. Pratt has stated she wants to set up a call-in line for probate court. Our county already has this: Adult Protective Services. Like last voting cycle, someone wanting to run an office they know nothing about. Judge Campbell is trustworthy and knowledgeable. Ms. Pratt = PRETENDER.

They say you can judge the character of a man by the type of people that he surrounds himself with. A sham political consultant, a snot-nosed young punk wannabe, an alleged wife beater, the building owner of a brothel and a convicted felon engineer all come to mind as known associates and allies of Denny Malloy. Judgment day is coming in the May primary. Good luck, Denny. People now realize their mistake in your last election.

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the nature of the support being shown for candidates in this year's election. For those of you writing in support of your chosen candidates, why is it necessary to resort to negative comments? What is there to be afraid of? A candidate should be able to run on their own qualifications to get elected. Printing nasty comments only reflects on the character of the person writing them and the type of candidate being supported. It is time to focus on voting for the most qualified individuals, regardless of the party they represent.

Apparently, some misunderstand the concept of the "No Kings" protests. There was no intention to "overthrow the government." Remember Trump's Jan. 6 insurrection attempt. He continues to show us that he is the king-wannabe. He ignores and disrespects the Constitution and courts. He demands Congress obey his orders. He uses executive orders to bypass Congress 255 times so far. "The media is the enemy of the people." He wants federal control of voting. He admires the privileges of dictatorship.

Cal Thomas' column on Pope Leo's flawed war doctrine is spot on! Why isn't the pope condemning Iran's brutal murdering actions towards its people? Why isn't the pope condemning the October 7 attack on Israel's innocence? Why isn't the pope condemning Iran's threat to other countries? Myself and many members of Mother Theresa of Calcutta church condemn his views. America is righteous in the battle. Archangel Michael, defend America.

Response to editorial Onion blasting "downright idiotic drivers who pass school buses": Last Friday I was driving along North Road around 3 p.m. when a school bus barreling down suddenly stopped. No warning to drivers, no "red stop sign" pullout. The car in front of me couldn't stop in time and went on. I slammed my brakes hoping not to get rear-ended. If he's the same driver racing through Surrey Hill, he should be reprimanded.

Warren City Council 4/8: After watching the livestream meeting I'm shaking my head at the unprofessionalism and ineptitude displayed. One councilman did not know the proper procedure to submit a motion. Where is the training for someone making $1,000/meeting? There were 11 pieces of legislation submitted and all were declared an emergency! WHY? Is this lack of planning, laziness or more ineptitude? Wake up, Warren.

April 25 has been proclaimed Warren City Arbor Day. The flyer says, " Let's celebrate our trees." Unfortunately, there were many historical trees behind Women's Park that were senselessly removed under the order of Enzo Cantalamessa. (Building a bocce court is not a valid reason for such destruction.) Continuing the irony of this "celebration," why not have Mr. Cantalamessa be the emcee? Trees have been planted in that area, but the significance and history can never be replaced.

Have you watched that warm and fuzzy television commercial with Apoorva Ramaswamy talking about her Republican husband, Vivek, wanting to bring a better life to Ohioans? Please don't be taken in by that commercial. Remember, Republican Ramaswamy was going to partner with Elon Musk on DOGE. How did that go? Now he wants to shut down some colleges by combining leadership positions to save money. This is only the start. He shares many Trump ideas. Is that what you want?

Never in my wildest would I have imagined we would have such a disrespectful president calling not only Pope Leo names, but also Pope Francis. World leaders do not criticise the pope, head of the world-wide Catholic Church, and not expect to be excoriated for it. And, he calls himself the peace president. What a joke.

The nonstop Republican campaign TV ads for the November election have already begun. It looks like "election integrity" is their nonstop, brainwashing campaign message for this cycle. Don't fall for it and ask yourself, where is all this money coming from? This is happening at the local level also. Several former local politicians were so terrible they were voted out. But they are back with abundant campaign signs from their wealthy backers. Remember, even local politicians can be bought and paid for.

In August 2025, Thomas Campbell "sentenced" a 19-year-old distracted driver to community service and a one-year suspension of his license for vehicular homicide. That driver killed an innocent husband and father of two young children. What kind of justice was that? Campbell says "experience matters." We don't need that kind of experience. I am happy to say he did not get my vote!

Question: Will the media have an hourly "Breaking News" comment about the gas prices going down like they did for weeks every hour on the hour stirring hysteria.
