An average AI data center takes about 1,500 temporary trades to construct. Once built, it only has about 200 employees, hardly an employment boom. Community residents’ electric bills go up about 25%, not to mention water / sewer. Electric bills for residents should not increase AT ALL! The AI data center should foot the bill to run their operation, just like the old energy hog steel mills had to. It’s no wonder that Lordstown residents are against this so-called “investment.”

We have been Cortland Trib subscribers for 30 years, enjoying reading the news with breakfast. Just this month, the Trib notified us that they were no longer delivering our daily newspaper; instead the USPS would deliver it with our mail — in the afternoon. But the USPS does not deliver on holidays, like MLK Day, yesterday. In Cortland, no mail, no newspaper! But yet, Bazetta Township subscribers still get their daily newspaper delivered in the morning and like yesterday, MLK Day, they still got their Trib newspaper

Apparently MAGA still believes Trump’s lie that wind turbines are the primary killer of birds. Let’s look at the easy-to-find facts: About 230,000 birds are killed each year by wind turbines. Oil pits — kill about 3 times more. Electrocutions — 24 times more. Communication tower collisions — 29 times. Electric lines collision — 111 times. Poison — 313 times. Vehicle collision — 932 times. Building glass collisions (including Trump’s) — 2,604 times more. Cats kill about 10,434 times more birds than turbines. Not even close!

Bad weather closed most schools Thursday to keep the kids indoors where they would be safe and warm. On the Tribune’s front page, however, it shows kids sled riding in Cortland unfazed by the cold temperatures and modest snowfall.There was no reason for these kids to have a day off school if they are able to go outside and play. And I assume all schools’ lighting/heating was on all day without any students! What a waste!
