Donald Trump epitomizes corruption and narcissism

2 min read

DEAR EDITOR:

Extradited to the U.S. in 2022, former Honduran President Juan Carlos Hernandez was convicted in March 2024 of trafficking 400 tons of cocaine into the United States. Federal Court Judge Kevin Castel sentenced Cocaine Carlos to 45 years of incarceration. On Dec. 2, the malignant narcissist gave Hernandez a full pardon. Trump sycophants Roger Stone and Matt Gaetz lobbied for the pardon.

Thirty-two days later, Trump's DOJ charged Nicolas Maduro with narcotics-terrorism, corruption, drug trafficking and other criminal charges. Maduro faces life in an American prison with no prospect of a presidential pardon.

Trump's administration has asserted that Nicolas Maduro is an illegitimate authoritarian. And, there is irrefutable evidence that he stole the 2024 Venezuelan election, not unlike Trump's Jan. 6, 2021, effort to violently overturn, and thus steal, the 2020 American presidential election.

Maduro will probably be found guilty of at least some of the charges brought against him, while Trump, a true American seditionist/insurrectionist and the only American president to face two impeachment trials, will probably remain free until the end of his despicable life.

No one should deny that Maduro, like his predecessor, was a cruel, oppressive, corrupt dictator that needed to be removed. But that isn't the reason for Trump's action. While lying to the American public and repeatedly asserting that the purpose of the major deployment of American military assets to international waters in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific was to interdict (35-36) alleged drug boats launched from coastal Venezuela, the malignant narcissist's real motive had always been control of Venezuelan oil reserves. Trump "couldn't care less" about the Venezuelan people. The bigot in him deplores brown people. And he "couldn't care less" about the American people either. That's what narcissists are: incapable of caring about anyone but themselves.
