DEAR EDITOR:

The fact that the Trumbull County Recorder’s Office had a fraud invasion incident during the 25th anniversary of International Fraud Awareness Week, only further illustrates as well as corroborates the continued deficiently negligent lack of anti-fraud training, awareness, policies, and procedures to effectively prevent and deter fraud, like the egregious handling of the recent Trumbull County Auditor’s handling of the false wire transfer instruction fraud, a common scheme for many years. Pathetic doesn’t even come close in describing this situation in Trumbull, or rather, perhaps, Trouble County.

Happy 25th anniversary of International Fraud Awareness Week! It’s long overdue that this is acknowledged locally, especially with fraud, waste and abuse becoming significant growth issues more and more. The abundance of Bitcoin ATMs in the area is staggering, and no, Bitcoin is not anonymous, as people may think, it is pseudo-anonymous, and most definitely traceable.
