Sound off!

Orchid to Judge Natasha Natale for going outside her chambers and into the community for "Steering Clear Warren." The program allows those with a suspended license to understand their suspension and how they can get their license reinstated. Drivers can regain their licenses, so they may drive to work or school. Additionally, it keeps people with suspended licenses from continuously driving -- which will lead to further penalty under the law. It is admirable that Judge Natale is willing to go out into her community to benefit Warren.

Irene Makridis is the best candidate for judge, and it's not even close! She's fair and compassionate, but also tough on those who deserve it. Irene will not let domestic abusers off the hook. She'll lay down the law, and be firm about it. I had the pleasure to meet Ms. Makridis when she knocked on my door. It completely changed my opinion on her. I'm a Republican and planned to vote for her opponent, but no more.

I am a supporter of Warren Civic Music, I attend all the concerts yearly and enjoy them. Our first concert this year was a little different but got better toward the end. As the band continued to play with no intermission, a board member who has a long ponytail and wears a cowboy hat shouted loudly, "You're done," making a gesture with his hand across his neck. I saw this from where I was seated. This was extremely rude. As a board member he showed no class or professionalism.

I watched Warren City Council on 10/8/2025 discussing the opening of Dana Street. Councilman Ron White was adamant that Dana Street stay closed. The vote was taken and Ron White tried to abstain, which was not allowed. Then he changed his vote to OPEN Dana street. Ron White wins the best flip / flop vote this year. Congratulations!

If Dan Crouse thinks AI data centers are so great for taxpayers, maybe he can set up a program where he can pay people's utility bills when rates skyrocket. In every area where one of these things is built, electric rates rise for everyone! Not worth it, Dan. Stick to real estate and leave our electric bills alone, Dan.

Trump's MAGA law NSPM-7 calls to imprison liberals for their beliefs. MAGA supporters wanted to Make America Great Again, even when they were unable to explain how. I warned them, "Trump won't stop with immigrants. He grew up in a NYC construction mob family. They do not respect our Constitution." They replied "TDS!" MAGA enabled Trump to dissolve our God-given freedoms. Even though they didn't know they were bad at first, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Joe Biden trying to take credit for the peace deal President Trump made between Israel and Hamas is like an arsonist saying he helped put out the fire. Everything Biden did was the reason Israel was attacked in the first place. He didn't give Israel the military equipment it needed. He held their military back from destroying Hamas. This is typical of Democrats. They take credit for for what they didn't do and blame others for what they do.

Yes, congrats to Trump for being one "part" of the group who accomplished a cease-fire in the war in Gaza. He, along with Rubio and several other countries, accomplished the end to a horrific war that lost 68,000 Palestinians, and has left nothing but rubble throughout the region. Now Trump should call off his attacks against our country from his administration's ruthless tactics, those that do not earn Nobel Peace Prizes.

I see Girard Board of Education is concerned for the budget projections. Glad to see finally someone is. Until they reduce the ridiculous amount spent on admin and support, little will change. An assistant superintendent in a tiny system is stupid and says the superintendent isn't doing much. Won't mention the 100k on an athletic trainer or the 500k on a sweetheart contract, but what's a few bucks among friends?

There is nothing wrong with Columbus Day, I celebrate it every year. Despite what it means concerning varying historical accounts of who actually discovered America, to most of us, it celebrates Christopher Columbus discovering America. But in the land of the free and home of the brave, there are "cultural king warfare artists" among us, including Rep. Michael Rulli, who wants to prevent free expression, a fundamentally cherished American right, with legislation banning activities on Columbus Day. How productive! Just what his voters elected him to do.

Kudos to Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins for arguing against the possible parole of two convicted felons, Gary Betz (murder) and Paul Czoka (rape of two minor children). Based on their past records, both of these men are incorrigible and should spend the rest of their lives behind bars. People will be a lot safer if the parole boards heed Mr. Watkins' words of warning against the release of either or both of these despicable criminals.

To the letter-writer from Girard who whined that the political cartoons in the Tribune are "blatantly MAGA/Republican"….Do you read the Sound Off submissions every week? They are overwhelmingly anti-Republican, anti-Trump, anti-MAGA. Every person thinks that his / her party is being unfairly treated. Keep an open mind and simply revel in the fact that we still have a printed newspaper!

Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize because Obama got one. He wants to ruin "ACA" because Obama's administration helped millions of Americans obtain health care. His jealousy of Obama is obvious as he has neither the eloquence nor integrity of Obama. And, to beg for a Nobel Peace Prize is singularly tacky and juvenile.

I read an article in the weekend edition about the diverging "diamnond," whatever that is. On the FRONT PAGE. After two paragraphs I was directed to page 5 for the rest of the article. It's actually on page 6. Then I see last week's editorial reprinted because some of it was left off last week. I used to tell people that little Warren, Ohio, had a world-class newspaper. Please get better. Don't make me buy the Plain Dealer; I don't want the Plain Dealer.

The owner of Auto Parkit (Chris Alan Buzzelli) is throwing a "temperature tantrum"… AGAIN. He brags about his landscaping EVERY meeting, then threatens to leave Warren if Dana St. reopens. Do you see trucks being loaded and unloaded at his business? Nope! He also owns the Hughes Mansion on N. Park that's "getting rehabilitated." Do you see work going on there? Nope! So ... bye, bye Buzzelli and take your pompous attitude, bogus business and landscaping with you.

Charlie Kirk was a man of faith? Which faith? Jesus said his followers are to love, not loathe. To be kind, not hateful. To reach out to people, not to dominate. To treat immigrants as natural-born citizens. And most importantly, to care for the poor and needy, not abandon them. So which faith exactly did Charlie Kirk practice? Not the faith of Christ. Not at all.
