Democrats are unwilling to work on immigration

DEAR EDITOR:

President Trump is not going anywhere, so why don’t the Democrats work with him on immigration? Why the resistance? Because they hate how well he is doing in six months, more than any other president.

Deportation of illegals has been around since the 1750s. The Alien Act authorized the deportation of nationals that were deemed dangerous. In 1882, the Immigration Act expanded to deport illegals with mental illness, criminals who would become charges (meaning the U.S. would have to take care of them) and border enforcement.

In 1892, Chinese laborers had to register with the government or face deportation. In the 1920s Mexican immigrants and political radicals were deported (sounds like this should include some Democrats).

In 1965, the law expanded to Latin American countries and “illegals” could be banned permanently. President Bill Clinton deported 12.3 million, more than any president until President Barack Obama, who was known as “the Deporter-in-Chief.” And let’s not forget the party known for being against the Republican Party in 1865. The KKK (Southern Democrats), was formed to weaken the political power of southern blacks and Republicans’ influence — this still goes on today. Intimidation, violence and protests.

You can thank the Republican President Ulysses S. Grant, who actually supported black people in the struggle for the right to vote through the 15th Amendment. Know your history. Although his legacy remains a subject of historical debates.
