Welfare is not a lifetime paycheck! It should be available for 5 years only. When FDR and LBJ passed a law for welfare it was meant for single moms and widows. During Ronald Reagan term he did significant "cuts" to Medicaid, welfare and food stamps. Why? Fewer people wanted to work. In 1964 there were only 9% of children living in single families, today 38.1 million.
In 1978, Trumbull County had the highest divorce rate in all of the U.S., but mothers had child support, two words you never hear anymore. Child Support. In today's world hardly anyone gets married but women still have children. Now the government, using your tax dollars, becomes the fathers of these children. Anyone who is between 18 and 60 should work, unless you have a medical issue and care for their children, but you get free child care, so what is holding you back from getting a job? Single mothers did and can work in today's world.
President Obama invented "Obamacare" -- affordable health care for people who are working, but again you have to work! No one will talk about the reality of what is needed in this country and welfare is not the answer.
As children having mental problems and anxiety, there is no father figure in the home, but there are cell phones. Who buys these phones? Parents. If they want a phone let the child buy one and don't contribute to their mental health problems. They can HAVE a phone under 18 but they need parental authorization.
