Thank you to Warren Police Department

1 min read

DEAR EDITOR:

I want to personally thank the Warren Police Department, especially those officers posted around Court House Square on Saturday, June 14, during our "No Kings" celebratory demonstration, for their professionalism and respectful discretion while our event was taking place.

I had no idea the officers were stationed around the square until MAGA ghouls, inside their sputtering Detroit rust buckets festooned with torn, tired, stained, and straggling Stars and Stripes flags gaffer-taped to their rear ends, attempted to violate and intimidate, through their actions and words, the peacefulness of the moment, that is, until our police reacted.

I'm certain that once they heard the police sirens ricochet in their direction, they were taken by surprise, especially when directed to the curbside.

I don't know what was said, or whether they were cited or warned, but our officer's response in defense of our 1st Amendment rights to gather peacefully in protest will stay with me for a long time.

Again, Warren City Police Department, thank you.
