Not everyone has freedom of speech

DEAR EDITOR:

In comment to a letter by Suellen Roberts in the May 24-25 weekend edition of The Vindicator about freedom of speech being trampied: She was blaming Trump for freedom of speech disappearing, but it was disappearing long before Trump was president. It disappeared long ago for conservatives, but liberals can say whatever they want.

Last year during pride month, Madonna Chism Pinkard was fired from a local tv station for saying “Why not have straight pride month?” What about her freedom of speech? if someone in her position was a liberal they can say whatever they want and not be fired.

When the owner of Chik-Fil-A said marriage should be between a man and woman the mayors of some cities wanted to shut down his businesses in their cities. What about his freedom of speech? And the things I see just mentioned didn’t happen when Trump was president and I can give many other examples of people who were fired from their jobs because some liberal was offended by something they said.

So Suellen Roberts is right in saying freedom of speech is being trampled, but it was happening long before Trump was president.
