Sound off!
Kimberly-Clark has been working with local and State officials since mid-2023. They purchased property in Warren to house their facility in December 2023. With the help of dozens of organizations and individuals working together for the next 16 months, the Mahoning Valley welcomed Kimberly-Clark as they announced they will build a $800 million manufacturing facility in Warren. We thank them. Now how long is it going to be before Trump claims credit saying it was due to his economic policy?

Kudos to Ken MacPherson for his efforts to repeal the large, forever 89% pay raises for Warren City Council. Once repealed, the average $0.93 per year pay increase that each citizen pays for a city councilperson to represent them could be combined with an additional $0.07 to buy a cup of coffee, once a year, at the Mocha House. Thanks, Ken, for pointing out this outrageous pay increase. The audacity of asking for a $0.93 pay raise after a 16-year wage freeze!

Well, another Mother’s Day has passed without my granddaughter. She continues to see her mother in supervised visitation for one hour each week. What will it take to bring her home? Perhaps thousands of dollars for another lawyer, perhaps thousands more for a court appointed psychologist to determine the child’s wishes? Tens of thousands have already been spent on court officers and court costs, all in hopes of having a different outcome than what exists. I have heard Trumbull County Family Court referred to as a “money machine.” I believe it now.

Kimberly Clark warehouse associate wage pays 16 dollars an hour. Take-home pay $520 a week. House payment, property tax, insurances, utilities, food and other life expenses. Be realistic about what that wage can buy. The jobs that come will never pay as much as the jobs that left.

According to Cal Thomas (Tribune, May 13, 2025), “Student loan deadbeats proliferate.” College students who agreed to a financial arrangement with a lending institution must follow the rules and repay that loan. It was a loan, not a gift. If guilty parties do not repay according to their agreement, wages should be garnished. Thomas states that the student loan debt is an estimated $1.7 trillion. (That’s with a ‘T’, folks!) They must be held responsible for that money!

It is unbelievable to me how anyone could treat a dog like the one mentioned in today’s paper (May 13). That poor animal suffered so much abuse from its owner. I don’t believe a word he said, just a bunch of excuses. He should be given the strictest of punishments, a heavy fine and jail time. I’d like to beat him up myself. If you can’t take care of an animal, no matter what it is, don’t get one. They deserve tender, loving care like any family member.

I worked in pharmaceuticals for 10 years. I’ve seen the waste of money they throw at their reps to make them sell for those big bonuses. The conferences in Las Vegas with A-listers for concerts and comedians. I had a car with no expenses (insurance and gas paid), cell phones bought and paid for. The best part was I had a drug that sold itself so I never really had to go to work. Save your money, Pharma, drop the ads too!
