DEAR EDITOR:

To be a Mother is the most honorable, wonderful cherished position a woman can hold. It is a Gift from God. A Mother gives of herself to her children. She sacrifices, goes without for her child, yet she never complains. She may not wear the best of clothes, yet she always makes sure that her children look presentable. A Mother’s love has no bounds.

A Mother instills in her children “right from wrong.” She is her children’s biggest cheerleader. and advocate. A Mother guides her children with a “velvet glove,” yet that same “velvet glove” can quickly become an “iron fist” if her children are threatened.

It is so sad to me that some children are so disrespectful to their Mothers. The way that they talk to them is appalling! In the same token, some mothers do not act like Mothers. They insist on partying every chance that they get. Oftentimes taking their child with them.

God blessed us with only one Mother. It doesn’t take much effort to pick up the phone and call her. It doesn’t take much effort to plan and to go and see her. Give your Mother her flowers while she can still smell them.

Many of our Mothers have gone on to Glory! We should honor them not just on Mother’s day, but every day. Honor them with the love and lessons that they taught us. Honor them with the joy that they brought us.

Mothers aren’t perfect. Mothers can be flawed. But she is still your Mother!! Being a Mother is a role encompassing caregiving, nurturing and providing guidance, love and support for their children.

In my opinion, the biggest reward for a Mother is to see how well her children have grown up to be wonderful adults. This is a blessing to her. In this she is well pleased.

Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

All Mothers here today and Mothers who are with our Lord, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! You truly … are … a blessing to your children! GOD BLESS YOU!
