Are you angry yet? You should be

DEAR EDITOR:

It’s time to be angry that the president wants to shrink government. It sounded good to President Trump’s supporters when he was on the campaign trail. But it’s not so great.

We have long been the richest nation on Earth. At the end of Joe Biden’s presidency, our GDP totaled about $27 trillion. China, ranking second, had about $17 trillion. The International Monetary Fund stated that the USA’s economy led the world, according to the Wall Street Journal, and our success helped other countries to become financially sounder. The GDP is the total money that we spend, earn, owe and invest.

Trump claims Biden had a poor economy, which is a bald-faced lie. Can you remember Trump’s State of the Union address? He called out Joe Biden 13 times. Every time he wants to blame someone, it’s Biden. That’s because Biden did a really great job, and Trump is so jealous he could cry.

Trump is making big mistakes. Yes, people wanted him to make the border stronger. But Trump can’t send people, foreign-born or not, to foreign gulags. He has already sent several Americans by mistake. And he is lining up our military along the Southern border. He is overstepping his authority.

His focus is on satisfying the wealthy people who support him. He wants to remain president for life, and he thinks this will help him do that. But his tariffs are killing our savings accounts and ratcheting prices upward. We must tell him; we don’t want DOGE; we don’t want people sent to foreign gulags. He wants to have a military-style parade on his birthday just like the dictators of Russia and North Korea. That’s not how America rolls!

He claims all people will get tax breaks, but the average person’s tax break will be far less than the one for rich folks. He and Congress are planning to take away the things that make our lives easier just so they can have another million or so.

And we, the people whose hard work sustains this nation, living in the richest country on Earth, have to go to the back of the line. We work hard, but the rich people are saying, “You stand in that line. You can’t have PBS or library services anymore because we need money more than you do. We want your public-school money for private schools.”

They’re telling us if we don’t like it–tough.

Call your senators and representatives and say that if they do this, we will vote each and every one of them out of office. They won’t need to worry about satisfying Trump anymore because they’ll be sitting at home watching “Days of Our Lives.”
