Elon Musk was able to complete a coup with only a $228 million donation to Donald Trump’s campaign. Now he is running the country while Trump is his puppet. None of us voted for Musk, but he is pretty much running everything. He is our dictator and Trump has declared himself our KING. We voters need to take back our country. Our Senators and Congress people need to do something to undo this injustice. DOGE needs to go.

Just remember this pain from the stock market drop caused by tariffs is being done intentionally so enough savings and / or revenue can be delivered to the parliamentarian to justify a certain percentage of tax cuts for billionaires. So, stop complaining about your 401k and remember this is all being done to help save the billionaires from the big bad tax man.

Here are some definitions to terms that fit the times we are living in today in the United States. Extort — obtain something by force, threat or other unfair means. Intimidate — frighten or overawe (someone), especially in order to make them do what one wants. Bribe – persuade (someone) to act in one’s favor, typically illegally or dishonestly. Racketeer — a person who engages in dishonest and fraudulent business dealings. Swindler — a person who uses deception to deprive someone of money or possessions.

Why all the fuss over a possible relocation of the Mahoning County Board of Elections to Austintown and the prospect of inner-city voters being inconvenienced? Did anyone ever hear of a phone call for an application for an absentee ballot and a postage stamp to return the voted ballot? Relax, no one is taking away your voting rights.

How dare Trump and Musk violate our government’s frenzy to feed the nation’s budget deficit by cutting back, rolling back, trimming, eliminating. Those two should be hogtied as treasonists. Where’s their good old American spirit to keep the gravy train running at full speed instead of putting the brakes on it?

John Brown sat idle while his closest colleague on Warren City Council sponsored legislation for the largest pay raise in Warren City Council history. No direction or input was made by Brown until there were eight votes to support it. Later, Brown was asked to sign a petition for a referendum on the pay raise and he refused, obviously putting his own pay raise over the public and city employees’ well-being. Shame on you, John Brown.

He’s back! Dan Polivka can’t get enough of running for public office after recently getting trounced by Rick Hernandez by nearly 12,000 votes. Polivka isn’t satisfied with two state pensions (retire and rehire) paid for by taxpayers. He now wants taxpayers to also pay for his premium health insurance plan as president of Warren City Council — a mostly ceremonial position that comes with a sizable salary. Warren voters, ask yourself “When is ENOUGH ENOUGH?” Voters should already know the answer.

It is unbelievable to learn that $6,500 worth of damage was done to the Trumbull County Country Club golf course. The drivers of ATVs destroyed the greens at two holes by doing “burn outs,” which left deep ruts and chewed up large divots of grass. What is wrong with people? The guilty parties were probably teens or young adults who, when caught, should be jailed and made to pay for repairs. If necessary, parents should be held responsible.

Kudos to Niles City Council in fixing snow plow damage to residents’ lawns. Hopefully, Howland Township will do the same. The damage done in Surrey Hill is unacceptable. Corner lawns are torn up 4 to 6 ft deep. Edges of lawns have ruts yards long. Let’s get back to a reputable and competent community. Was this a DEI hire?

Please, please buy or save this mess, University Hospital or Cleveland Clinic!! Given the current state of the last number of years, who would want to get medical care at this facility, much less practice medicine there. I pray that another sale is made, except this time to a world-class hospital system.

At a candidates night recently, Dan Polivka said that local governments who have to have a balanced budget should never have to raise taxes. Does Dan not realize that the cost of labor and materials for services goes up? Does Dan think governments are left out of inflation? After forty years in local government, how does he not understand revenue streams? Is he so simple that he thinks saying no to new taxes is a fresh idea?

After Dan Polivka was defeated by his opponent in the commissioner’s race in 2020, he and his lawyers spent a year trying to get the Ohio Supreme Court to undo the results of the election because the person who beat him spent time with her partner in another county. The voters did not want Dan anymore and he tried to have the courts overturn our votes! People in Warren should know how little this man respects democracy, and they should keep him away from public office!

It has taken me a while, but I think I have figured out Trump’s foreign policy. Make allies into enemies and make enemies into allies. My question, how does that help National security?

Only 2 months into Trump 2.0 and our GOAT “peace president” has shockingly violated the U.S. Constitution multiple times, tanked the economy with dumb tariffs, sucked up to the worst dictators on earth, pissed off every one of our allies, blindly destroyed hundreds of crucial government programs, threatened Canada, Mexico, Gaza, Panama, Ukraine, Greenland, Denmark and now Iran. If Trump’s goal is to run the U.S. into the ground, then mission accomplished.

The Signal chat debacle was nothing more than what happens when a bunch of forty-somethings get placed in positions, not because of their experience and knowledge, but because of their positive massaging of the ego of the man who put them in those positions. They don’t have a clue of what they are doing, but thank goodness they followed the directions that came down from true military planners who do know what they are doing, and the mission was successful.

Kudos to Guy Vogrin on his op-ed entitled “Some cold-blooded killers deserve to be executed,” which appeared in the March 28 Tribune. With clarity and truthfulness, Mr. Vogrin put forth an excellent argument in favor of the death penalty. This article should be mandatory reading for all government officials, beginning with Gov. DeWine. Thank you for your insight and courage in speaking against what has become the mainstream of liberal thinking!

Rick Hernandez was notified in 2024 that there was illicit activity on a property of his. Rick could have shown integrity by immediately addressing the situation showing us how decisively he can react to upholding laws and human dignity. He chose to lie and hide behind some attorney’s advice; an attorney he refuses to name. He is now known to be a liar. Hang your head in shame and resign, Rick!
