The Sound off about Dan Polivka said he is a candidate with fresh ideas. Really? This fan of Dan should know that the office of city council president is pretty much ceremonial. The job is to run meetings and break ties. Leadership and moving the city forward aren't in the job description. It's the easiest job with the lowest expectations which is probably why Dan wants it.

Since many are throwing ideas out there with ways in which Trumbull County can save money, I'd like to add to what someone stated about Dawn Zinni's admin making $65,000. Other elected officials brought their people with them like that. How about they let those people go first and see how many more tens of thousands they will have for their departments? The positions these people are in are positions, however, they're considering laying off positions that have been in place for a long time! Makes no sense.

The problem with Trumbull County workers is they're running the zoo! Only county in Ohio that is union! They play games and get overtime galore. They have had it too easy for too many years! Taxpayers are tired of the nonsense and lack of work. Commissioners, take control of your county! Bust the union and start fresh!

If people can't see the corruption from Republicans who care nothing about our town, something is wrong. Most are politicians needing a second job to supplement their income. You have Democrats fighting over seats now to get Polivka back in and John Brown is fighting for the same seat. Neither are true Democrats. Hernandez is renting buildings to God knows who. Rulli trying to break up the education system. We need good, solid Democrats to run and get these ridiculous politicians out of office for good.

When Trumbull Memorial was bought by Steward, my first thought was Steward WHO? Then, Steward ran it in the ground. Along came Insight WHO. It is kind of like GM's spin-off of Packard Electric to avoid their own financial responsibilities! Along came Delphi and the end was near. Obama couldn't even force GM to honor ALL pensions! So here we are, NO hospital! I've been praying that Cleveland Clinic or University Hospitals buys our hospital and provides world-class care. After all, who would entrust their health care to this MESS?

Elon Musk and eight upper-level DOGE members were interviewed. To hear them describe the waste and fraud in the federal government will make your head spin. Antiquated systems that don't talk to each other allow for fraud, duplicated positions, etc. By degree, I am highly skilled in efficiency, systems, etc. Anyone who watched this interview and does not believe it to be true is ignorant, or blind to the truth. Those in government who oppose DOGE the most are the most guilty parties!

How long will it take for the Trumbull County Republican Party and Julia Shutt, chairwoman, to make a statement about the prostitution scandal involving Rick Hernandez? Is she silent because she worked on his campaign? Is it her whole "unity" objective while driving others away from the party? How many people will the party lose because of her ineptness? She is in over her head. Making the headquarters "pretty" is not what we Republicans need. We need a leader.
