DEAR EDITOR:
Ohio citizens have been given a great right and privilege. Sadly, many choose not to use it. Boards of Elections across the state are anticipating a turnout of approximately 10-15% of eligible voters to cast a ballot in the currently being held election. Besides some local issues that may be on some ballots, there is a state issue on which to be voted. If each of us would take the time to cast our ballot, imagine the message it would send to our representatives in Columbus and Washington. It would remind them that we are here, that we are watching, and that we have the power of the ballot box. By not casting a vote, you message them that you don't care; and that they have the power over us to do whatever they choose without consequences. It seems lately that state and federal politicians are trying to restrict our access to voting. Cast your vote, let them know that you care, and that this right is important to you.
Don't know if you are registered to vote. Check either online or with your local Board of Elections. Not registered and unable to vote this cycle? Register to vote today so you can in the next election.
Every election is important. Show those anticipating that the people of Ohio do not care about each and every election that they are wrong. Show them we do care, we do recognize this important part of being a citizen, and we will vote to let those in political power know who are truly the ones in power.
Cast your vote on or before May 6.
