Sound off!
It was hard to find Democratic beliefs or platform during the 2024 election, because their word-salad candidate had no clue. But now their beliefs are clear. Oppose cost cutting in a country with a $36 trillion debt. Oppose controlled immigration. Continue spending billions in a war that Ukraine will lose. Support Hamas plants on college campuses. Continue wild spending to buy votes. Appease rather than be strong. Support fringe beliefs rather than normalcy. Support trans surgeries on children. And their mid-term candidates? Losers! Vote against ALL Democrats!

Trumbull County commissioners, you are not fiscally responsible and have no knowledge of simple accounting principles. Raising the sales tax without cutting spending will only put a band aid on the problem. The county needs to stop giving out large raises, stop hiring friends in made up jobs and stop asking the taxpayer to bail you out.

Decades ago the godless commie Putin was our arch enemy as head of the Soviet’s KGB. He overthrew the Russian government declaring himself president for life. He has never held a private sector job and yet today the corrupt leader is worth $200 billion! He magically built a $1.4 billion home on a Russian president’s salary of only $140K. Meanwhile, the average Russian median household income is a mere $6K per year! Beware if this is Trump’s vision to Make America Great Again!

Trump and Musk’s slash and burn antics removes public services and safety with no understanding of each government department’s work. Clinton reduced government’s workforce by more than 250,000 employees as part of initiative NPRG through bipartisan congressional legislation and Clinton signed the bill. It offered worker buyouts to those mostly in middle management positions, taking place over five years. This bill reduced layers of bureaucracy, not services. It didn’t reduce services to give tax cuts to millionaires.

When you have less money a person cuts out the waste. You don’t hire people at any rate of pay, or create new positions. When local communities have tax-funded parks why is a Metro Park stretched across the county needed. The 911 center was placed in Howland for a long list of reasons and has worked for over 25 years, now its needs to move? Looks like Trumbull will be looking for new Commissioners.

The troubles at Stonegate low income apartments have gone on far too long. Ongoing drug traffic, crime, and now deteriorating buildings have done nothing but negatively affect property values of the adjoining neighborhoods of single family homes. It is time to close and demolish Stonegate! Now TNP wants to buy the property where Emerson school once stood to build four low-income houses and further deteriorate the NW side of Warren. You don’t see them buying Garfield, Devon, McKinley, etc. property on the EAST side to build slum housing, do you?

Clean water, safety, flooding, biodiversity are just buzz words for tearing down the dam. The bottom line is that the insurance cost is too high, and the park has no money to maintain the dam, so why not sell it to the township for a dollar. If the township doesn’t want to take the responsibility for maintaining it, then let the park tear it down. The park bought it, they own it, let the park foot the bill, not the county.

Dan Polivka just can’t do without that paycheck on our dime! During his last campaign for commissioner, a family member of his wrote a letter to the editor to talk about his work ethic and how hard he works. If this is true, why isn’t he working hard in the private sector? Guess he would be too accountable to someone who could fire him ASAP rather than hoping to trick voters. Warren has enough elected officials coasting for a paycheck; we don’t need another one!

The Democrats’ lack of any reaction to Trump’s incredible speech led me to believe they really are out of any ideas. And the Democratic rebuttal by Sen. Slotkin proved it. No constructive ideas, no platform, no coherent candidates. Their only playbook is sticking with their ideas that got them crushed in the election. No one should vote for a Democrat again, until they present common sense ideas for America!

You might not hear this on legacy media. Near the end of Biden, a $41 BILLION slush fund was funneled to the EPA intended to enrich Obama, Clinton, Biden, and Soros crony “projects”. The new DOJ began an investigation today. Fortunately, most of the money never left the bank. You still want to vote for Democrats? No wonder DOGE exists!

We’re back to being ruled by text and quick quips complaining about everyone and everything. Diplomacy and tact are gone, aggression is in, alienating our close allies appears to be the rule and has turned our country into the bully where we once were admired.

When did politicians become so hateful? There has always been rivalry between the two major parties, but the level of vitriol being spewed by our “leaders” is downright astonishing. Actually, it seems to have begun with Hillary Clinton, when she referred to her Republican opponents as “the deplorables.” Since then, things have really gotten out of control. So… thank you, Mrs. Clinton, for your unending contribution to the political scene.

Sure, that is a great idea, take away much needed help from our Veterans, the very protectors of our borders and help to our allies. How can this be allowed when they have given their lives for the country? Fire the very people lending help and guidance to our nations’ heroes. Of course, now we might not have any allies and we might live under a dome should the current administration have their way, so I guess no help is needed.

The “Where was 60 Minutes crew when Rust Belt jobs were cut?” opinion by Salena Zito was intellectually solid and heartfelt. It’s incredible how some media highlight federal employees’ personal struggles, most of whom have not yet missed a paycheck and are concerned about layoffs. There was little coverage on the personal impact of steel mill closings, and many in our area are still adjusting following the closure of auto plants and suppliers, like Lordstown, Packard Electric, and local businesses.

I’d like to know why the Tribune is so blatantly ignoring the day to day political developments regarding the drastic shift of our nation’s democracy into that of a dictatorship — more aligned with Russia than to our centuries-long allies. Aren’t these startling events, which threaten the very foundation of our Constitution, worthy of front-page coverage? Are we supposed to just overlook the dismantling of our country and cower in fear of retribution just like the GOP members of Congress?
