County government needs Musk-like effort

2 min read

DEAR EDITOR:

I have been thinking about writing this letter for a couple of weeks because of what I have been reading in the Tribune. Our water bills will in all likelihood be raised a substantial amount, the Trumbull County auditor wants more money to run her department, the trouble the Commissioners are having with the county budget, etc.

Niki Frenchko wrote a letter to the editor in the March 1-2 edition.

I read it and re-read it. I cannot find ANY fault with it. I would, however, add something to it. First of all, tough times require tough people and I do not see a tough leader of the commissioners. I listened to Denny Malloy being interviewed on WKBN radio last year, and he came off rather childish.

Moving on. It appears to me we need an Elon Musk-like audit of all county departments that would include ALL positions in each department.

I don't mean a willy-nilly, good-old-boy audit. I mean an audit by the state or some outside firm that has no ties to the county government.

The commissioners had better realize they are the gate-keepers of their constituents' money and they had better start acting like conservative Republicans or they won't be around too long!
