DEAR EDITOR:

People complain about “the system” all the time. Systems are only as good as those people in them, running them. The USA has a system that allows for the evolution of governing. The “system” of governing when this country was founded protected slave owners and slavery. This system of government also allowed for and created an end to that slavery. It simply takes the people being governed to participate in the system to make the change.

Only those who participate in the system can change the system of governing in the USA. Since more people do not participate, the minority that does participate runs the system. Now, we have a racist minority running our system that will do its best to change the system, so it cannot be changed by the people. It is that simple. Stay silent, stay oppressed.

We are only seeing the very beginning of the sickness of the Trump people. It will get much worse before it gets better. The only way to fix it is in elections. EVERY ELECTION MATTERS! New slogan for people who need slogans, “Elections Matter.” President Biden failed us in many ways, as has the Democratic party. Yet, the Democratic party is basically, right now, all we have to fix this mess. Unless some new party comes out of these ashes, it will be a reformed Democratic party that saves America. The world is better off without us right now.

The American people need to learn to be humble and understand we are not as great as we are led to believe. Our healthcare system sucks; it serves only the few, where in other countries it serves all. We have lost reason by believing in money to solve all our problems or that some superhero will come out of the clouds to save us all from ourselves. WE are responsible for ourselves and no one else. It is OUR collective responsibility to fix our lives. Get out of this superficial, childish thinking. Learn to recognize who to trust with simple honesty. Trump and his supporters are not honest, it is that simple. Stop voting for them. It may be too late. How you choose to die will matter now more than how you lived.
