“Newly elected county recorder files for bankruptcy.” I believe the only reason this person was elected was because of oversaturated campaign signs with the president-elect’s face. Trumbull County voted for the MAGA agenda instead of qualifications. Wake up, people.

Let’s talk immigration of our forefathers vs today. What’s the difference? Our parents and grandparents were vetted and entered legally. That’s all we are asking. Bring your tired, your poor, in huddled masses. We will care for you. Just do it LEGALLY. They didn’t “work” at trafficking, being drug mules and the likes when they entered. Our forefathers were here to make America what it was. Illegal immigration has made American what it is today, a mess.

In response to “why pro-life Republicans support the death penalty” I ask why Democrats / Liberals support killing innocent babies as birth control, while protecting violent criminals from execution.

Well, it has happened again. A third Christmas holiday has gone by without my dear granddaughter in my home, her home. A merciless family court magistrate has insured that the child sees her mother once a week in supervised visits. Perhaps now there will be a judge who oversees the magistrates and takes into account the mother’s suitability and her child’s wish to be with her mother. Until then, our Christmas tree remains in place, waiting for my granddaughter’s return home.

Do we really need an influx of immigrants to supplement our workforce? The U.S population in 1920 was 106 million. Today it stands at 340 million. How about we find ways to eliminate the handouts given to able-bodied men and women who are currently U.S citizens. This should negate their incentive to stay home and collect.

The idea of RFK Jr. becoming the head of the Department of Health and Human Services is utterly ridiculous!! He is not a medical doctor or a scientist. If you are diagnosed with lymphoma would you go to the doctor who has spent years studying medicine and science or the guy with the law degree?

In “Sound Off” on 1/4/25, a writer from Liberty wanted to remind us that “we forget our grandparents and ancestors were immigrants.” How true. But I have heard people express this same thought many times in the past couple years, and they always leave out one very important word. Several of my ancestors were immigrants; LEGAL immigrants.

Why can’t these so-called vocalists sing the National Anthem as it was written? Most times, their “individualized renditions” are terrible and often just faintly resemble the original music. They should save the extra trills and frills for the shower. Meanwhile, they should do everyone a favor and sing it as it was written!
