DEAR EDITOR:

As Election Day nears, I am struck at how deeply unqualified the Republican candidates are.

For example, did you know that Mike Wilson, the Republican candidate for sheriff, was charged with domestic violence and contempt of court and the charges were dropped only because of a technicality? It is documented that Mr. Wilson, while in uniform and highway patrol car, drove over to a home where his ex-wife was, in violation of a court order, and tried to beat down the door, injuring his ex-wife in the process. This incident should be disqualifying.

Dawn Zinni, the Republican candidate for recorder, owes over $250,000 in default judgments. Why does she think she is qualified for public office when she cannot even manage her own affairs? She blames others for her misfortune but I thought personal responsibility was a core value of the Republican Party.

Randy Law, the Republican candidate for clerk of courts, is delinquent on his taxes, has outstanding judgments against him and could not even manage the local Republican Party.

If one is not responsible enough to pay their taxes and judgments, they are not qualified to hold public office and manage public money. I will give Mr. Law this, he has been great at putting his signs up in every abandoned lot in Trumbull County.

This year, I am voting for Democrats because they have the qualifications to lead this county.
