DEAR EDITOR:
This election I am voting for the person, not the party, in the race for Trumbull County engineer. I have been a lifelong Democrat, but in this election I am voting for Republican David DeChristofaro for Trumbull County engineer.
Dave will bring dignity, respect and professionalism to the employees who work there. Dave will do the road work based on need and importance, not because of politics. Dave will be business friendly to all businesses and not play politics with them. I am voting for the person for many reasons. Listed are Tribune Chronicle past stories for you to check out and then you will understand why: Tribune, May 28, 2015, "Fired county worker sues" after cancer diagnosis when the engineer refused her donated sick time; Tribune, June 20, 2018, "Engineer accused of sex harassment;" Tribune, Aug. 2, 2018, "Engineer, ex-employee debate bullying claims;" Tribune, Aug. 30, 2018, "Official's wife accuses engineer of bullying;" Tribune, Dec. 21, 2018, "County engineer embroiled in lawsuits;" Tribune, July 19, 2023, "County insurer pays $150K to settle case" for sexual harassment.
These are just a few examples. Unfortunately, I was the target of his sexual harassment. Smith's harassment forced me from my job. It's because of Smith's bullying and harassment that so many employees have left the engineer's office.
I would like to say to all elected officials, don't be a bully and when you have to deal with one, stand up for what's right and don't be scared. May God bless you and give you the courage to vote for the person.
