Dan Polivka deserves your vote
DEAR EDITOR:
As my brother, Dan Polivka, runs for office, I feel compelled to share what he means to our family and community. I’ve witnessed firsthand his incredible work ethic and selflessness over the years–qualities that make him the right person for this role.
Growing up in a single-parent household, Dan took on responsibilities far beyond his years. He worked tirelessly–delivering newspapers, shoveling snow, and cutting grass–not only to help support our family but also to ease the burden on our mother, who raised four children on her own. What stands out most is that he didn’t just work for himself. He regularly left his earnings in a jar for anyone in the family who needed it. This quiet act of generosity, repeated countless times, has always inspired me.
Dan’s selflessness extends beyond our family. Almost four years ago, when Covid struck and our 84-year-old mother needed care, Dan didn’t hesitate. He moved her into his home and has been caring for her ever since, ensuring she is safe and supported. It’s this kind of dedication to others–putting their needs above his own–that has defined him throughout his life.
His commitment to our family showed me what integrity, dedication, and kindness truly mean. He has always been the one to step up, whether for family, friends, or neighbors. Dan never kept score or expected anything in return — he simply did what was right.
While I now live in Florida and can’t vote in this election, I will be home to celebrate Dan and the positive impact he’s had on so many lives. I encourage everyone in our community to look past the negative campaigning and focus on what really matters–Dan’s character, values, and genuine desire to serve.
