DEAR EDITOR:
I have served on the board of directors at Trumbull Regional Medical Center for many years and am currently the chairman of the board. I have been with the hospital through several different owners and transition of ownership and have faced many challenges along the way. Yet, through it all the team at Trumbull Regional has demonstrated strong resolve and have remained focused on providing high quality care to the community.
My father was a patient at Trumbull Regional several times in the last six months for numerous reasons and received care in the Emergency Department, Cath Lab and the Wound Healing Center. The care he received was outstanding and second-to-none every single time.
Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in one of the National Hospital Week employee events at the hospital and despite everything going on and the recent media surrounding the parent company, Steward, the morale was good and the staff shared its confidence that the hospital will continue to serve the community as it always has. The team views the notice of Chapter 11 bankruptcy, that was announced May 6, not as an end but the start to a new beginning. Everyone is very optimistic and remains focused on patients. I, along with the other board members and leaders from the business community, know that it is paramount that the hospital continues to operate and we will do everything in our power to ensure that happens. We also believe, with the right operator, the hospital and its off-site locations will flourish.
On behalf of the board of directors, I'd like to applaud the staff and providers at Trumbull Regional for their continued dedication, loyalty and for the care and compassion they show to all patients and their families. The work they do every day is admirable and I am proud to serve on the board and advocate for this organization.
