I do not profess to understand the human race, but why would you run for a political office knowing you not only won’t be living in that Ward, but you are moving out of the city? I am a 5th Ward resident, and I want my council person accessible to me and my ward. How can she know what is happening or needed if she isn’t here? Having a mailing address in the ward is not living in the ward! Only Niki Frenchko can get away with that!

Ohio Revised Code Section 705.73 clearly states, “Any member of the council, elected from wards, who, at the time of his election was a resident of the ward which he represents, shall forfeit his office if he removes from such ward, and the council shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.” Clear language that Tiffany Stanford automatically forfeited her council seat when she moved out of the city! Wake up Warren!

Allowing guns in a courthouse is one of the most ridiculous ideas to ever be proposed! Obviously, emotions are high in a courtroom setting, and availability of a gun is only an invitation to disaster. Hopefully, logic will prevail, and this proposed law will be defeated. Think about it!

If you appreciated the beautiful lights around Courthouse Square this holiday season, the best way to say “Thank you!” is to go eat at the downtown landmark restaurant The Saratoga. For several years, the Economos family, owners of Saratoga, has graciously sponsored these beautiful lights on the square.

The issue with the transgender woman disqualified from the ballot is not an issue with being trans but an error by the Secretary of State in not including the name change requirement on the candidate requirement guidelines. Simple solution. What is harder to fix is the pathetic misinterpretation of the story by the Tribune itself, as evidenced by their poll question (whether transgender people should be banned from office).

Why would anyone want to accept a job where hostility about your job selection abounds? Ego maybe. Certainly not a concern about the institution itself. Crisis doesn’t develop a personality. It just reveals it.

Did I miss it, or did the song “I’m Getting Nuttin’ for Christmas” go out of fashion since the emergence of the culture police? I guess the song’s lyrics (“mommy and daddy are mad cause I ain’t been nuttin’ but bad”) are now unacceptable. It can’t be because of poor grammar because substandard English is as low as it goes these days. Besides, mommy and daddy don’t teach their kids nuttin’ proper anyway.

Gov. Mike DeWine vetoed HB 68. He said it was to save children’s lives. He failed to mention transgenders have a very high suicide rate after they transition. Maybe what is needed is more counseling for the children and their parents, and not irreversible hormone treatments and surgery. Why did he veto HB 68? I believe he wasn’t man enough to stand-up against the bill’s opposition.

Claudine Gay recently resigned as president of Harvard. Rep. Elise Stefanik on Dec. 5 asked, “Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard’s rules on bullying and harassment?” Gay could not give a definitive answer. It was plagiarism that finally brought her down. In her resignation Gay said it was “frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.” I guess they call that Karma.
