City woman’s charge miscarriage of justice

1 min read

DEAR EDITOR:

It was 1961. I was 10 years old. My father was out of town at a bowling tournament. My mother screamed, calling me to the bathroom. "Get the holy water, I lost the baby."

As I entered the bathroom she said, "Baptize her Shirley Ann."

The toilet was nearly filled with blood, human tissue and toilet paper.

"I Christen you Shirley Ann. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen."

"I'm going to lay down, honey," my mother sobbed.

I flushed the toilet. After nearly overflowing, it slowly went down. Plunger in hand, the second flush was successful. I put away the holy water, washed up, checked to make sure my 2-year-old brother had slept through the ordeal and returned to watching TV.

The men, and I repeat, MEN, who wish to prosecute Brittany Watts are either cruel and insensitive or misguided fools.

If the statute of limitations has not run out, they can now prosecute this case.
