Vote ‘no’ on new taxes in Bristol fire levy

1 min read

DEAR EDITOR:

Our township is once again in a tough spot because of the perfect storm the fire department and township trustees have created!

As of the last tax assessment, then-trustee Doug Seeman wrote a letter to the editor in this newspaper. He explained the situation that is eerily similar to the one that faces us today. In his letter, he describes problems as thus:

1. Fire truck is old.

2. Frames are rusting

3. Water tanks are leaking.

4. Current safety standard not provided.

5. Spent more than $30,000 on equipment maintenance.

At that time, Trustee Seeman stated replacing the 6.5 mill levy with a 5.8 mill levy would allow and fund the purchase of a new fire engine every 15 years! Where did that money go?

They tell us the new fire station did not cost the taxpayers a penny! The money came from a grant. So a no-cost fire station? Where is the money going? Vote no on new taxes!
