Sound off!

If you missed the 68th anniversary concert of Packard Band, you missed a spectacular work of music. Musicianship of these people led by the executive director is to be applauded! Month after month of free concerts, and where are the people of Warren? W.D. Packard had a dream when it came to music. Because of his generosity, his dream is a reality. The Children's Christmas concert will be here soon. Will students of Warren City Schools be attending?

Taxpayers pay the salaries of council members. Therefore, the taxpayers should be the ones to vote for or against a pay increase for those members. Warren council members putting forth a salary increase for themselves and then voting on it is ludicrous. Look around at Warren. What have they accomplished? A salary increase for council members and administrators is not warranted.

Wake up Warren! Fleecing of our community will start Oct. 25th when city council will vote on elected officials pay increases. These raises will be double digits and ongoing forever. For example, mayor will get 12.5% in 2024, auditor 21.1% and part-time city council members will receive 77.9%. Call your city council members. Better yet, go to the next city council meeting and voice your opinion about these ridiculous pay increases.

Thank you to the person who parked in Commissioner Frenchko's reserved parking spot for Wednesday's commissioners meeting, since she refuses to use it. What is sad is she bad mouthed former Commissioner Dan Polivka for not using his spot, and she does the same thing. I am glad someone is getting use out of it.

Why do we need discussions on Issue 1? It's quite simple. Women's rights are human rights. Vote yes or women will lose their right to decide what they do with their body. No discussions needed to understand that.

The same people who claim reproductive rights are not women's health care also tried to repeal Obamacare, which helps provide millions with health care coverage. Not sure I would take their word for what is and isn't health care. Vote Yes on Issue 1.

Republicans say, "think of the children!" but don't care about the real, actual kids in the world. They only care about the abstract idea of a child-to-be; not the actual human beings who already exist. When a 13-year-old gets pregnant, They'll tell that child that she matters less than the unthinking, unfeeling clump of cells inside her. How absolutely obscene. Think of the children. The living, breathing children with thoughts and feelings who need help right now.

Farmdale

The topic of parental rights does not appear in Ohio Issue 1 on the ballot Nov. 7. There is no mention of denying any rights to parents in the process of enshrining reproductive rights like abortion, contraception, miscarriage care and infertility treatment into the Ohio Constitution. Issue 1 would not affect parent's rights at all.
