Kudos to Warren councilmen who defied the majority and contacted Mark Marvin about his "letter of discontent" aimed toward this community's leaders. Mr. Marvin has put millions into Warren's renewal, yet he has been stonewalled many times. Correctly, he stated that the "leaders" must control the crime that continues to permeate Warren. Thank you, Mr. Marvin, for all you have done. Shame on our "leaders" for not working to solve the problems that haunt our city.

Newton Falls by-default Mayor John Baryak needs a parliamentarian sitting next to him to run a meeting. He and Councilwoman Tesa Spletzer want to give a carbon-copy contract that they so vocally opposed for others. A 50% salary increase after 1 year of ineptitude? Not even a thought anywhere else. These people, to include Bud Fetterolf, don't belong anywhere near a position of power. The town is ashamed of them.
Newton Falls
Newton Falls council and City Manager Pam Priddy are doling out taxpayers dollars faster than Ohio Lottery. The part-time Law Director's salary will be increased to $93,000 for working part time. Then City Manager Priddy hires another lawyer, a Cleveland parliamentarian to help guide Councilman John Baryak on how to run a public meeting. You would think after years on council, Mr. Baryak would know by now. Taxpayers should be ticked with the outflow of their hard-earned dollars.
Newton Township
1. If you live in a township... sorry. 2. Three people "exercising their rights" can void the rights of and cause so much harm to the many. 3. The recent Perry Township to Salem annexation shows some unintended (and intended) consequences. This is how cities expand. Unfortunately, with the state of affairs in Niles, it's cancerous growth. Trumbull County Commissioner Malloy campaigned for and was elected by township and rural voters. Let's hope he remembers that on Oct. 5th.
Mineral Ridge
I live in Howland and the facilities for the disabled behind Hillside hospital is growing up in weeds and covered with leaves. When I see this, I think of all the disabled veterans who could use this Field of Dreams sports complex. It consists of a large outdoor shelter, driving range, miniature, golf, protected bocce court, archery range and basketball court. Who is responsible for this wasted facility?
Howland
Solace Center does not exist to punish parents or children. If a parent has not abused, assaulted, abandoned or neglected a child, nor been alcohol or drug addicted, why are parents kept in supervised visitation for over a year? Perhaps the custodial parent has flagrantly disregarded rulings to notify the court of a change of address, claiming to not receive notices of upcoming hearings and causing hearings to be rescheduled? All are evil tactics to harm parent and child.
Howland
Cleveland Browns' game won't be broadcast by WKBN Sunday because of NFL rules. Browns and steelers (yes, small 's') both claim Youngstown as secondary market. When one team plays home, and the other is away, WKBN carries the game of the road team if they play at the same time. The steelers have no business claiming Youngstown as a secondary market. This is Ohio. Write or call the steelers and demand they cease claiming the Youngstown market.

Issue 1 in November specifically states abortion may be prohibited after viability. Just what would any sane reader think the Ohio Legislature will be doing in January other than exactly that? It's a return to Roe which is where a clear majority of Ohio's voters stand. Do not be fooled by those who cry "abortion on demand up until date of delivery." Such baloney has no part of an intelligent discussion.
