Lawsuit after lawsuit piles up against Niki Frenchko and Trumbull County. Settlements cost taxpayers higher insurance premiums and attorney fees. Lawsuits brought by mistreated county employees (Dawn Gedeon's $225,000 settlement) based on discrimination, defamation and emotional distress including HIPAA violations by disclosing an employee's private medical information -- begs the question, when will it end?

In recent studies and articles by psychologists and educational specialists, the consensus is children with more sleep do better in school. If this is true, why are Warren City School buildings begin their day earlier this school year? It seems logic would dictate a later start, especially in light of the low scores WCS students achieve on state tests.

One must wonder why cable television bills continue to increase. In 2005, our bill was $11.70 a month, or $141 a year. Currently, it is $150 a month! Our internet and phone are elsewhere. This is like going to a cafeteria and paying for every choice, but eating less than 10 items. Ninety percent of what we pay for is never used! Cable TV should operate like a cafeteria -- pay for what is chosen.

Kudos to common sense Republicans like Jay Edwards who sponsored a bill that passed requiring schools to take cash at sporting events. Many times I skipped a Harding game because I couldn't, upon spur of the moment, walk up and quickly get a ticket.

The Catholic Church's silence on Issue 1 was deafening. Ohio priests should have educated congregants on importance of its passage; instead we got crickets. Catholic Church may make noise about the abortion issue come November, but it will be too late. Cards were dealt Aug. 8. It's beyond time the Catholic Church takes an unequivocal stance on Right to Life instead of fearing offending big donors. If the church does not provide moral leadership, Satan is will fill the void.

Politicians Frank LaRose and Matt Huffman continue to insult Ohioans. Issue 1 went down because Ohioans don't want to cede their rights to politicians -- in this case the corrupt, gerrymandered party of HB 6, ECOT, et al.

Looks like the liberals' Issue 1 victory makes Ohio Democrats' beef that gerrymandering still exists a moot point.
