DEAR EDITOR:
House Joint Resolution 1, like it or dislike it, I don't think it's a good idea.
The main problem with this is that it will cost $25 million for the special election in August. Why August? August elections are the least participated in by voters. This increases the chances of passage of any issues on the ballot in August.
How can Columbus officials justify spending $25 million when there is a statewide general election Nov. 7? This is less than three months later. Our politicians in Columbus can't find a better way to spend $25 million of taxpayers' money?
It's absurd! This is why we need to closely monitor who we send to Columbus and hold them responsible. Taxpayers first. Political parties only after the voters are served.
