This is in support of Doug Franklin for Warren mayor. As 3rd Ward councilman, I have seen firsthand the positive impact he has had on our city.
Under Mayor Franklin's leadership, JAC Management is operating Packard Music Hall at a profit, due in part to the mayor's vision and ability to attract private investment.
Mayor Franklin implemented new management at Old Avalon golf course, resulting in a significant reduction in cost. Fiscally responsible decision-making is what we need in city government.
Warren West Development Corp.'s recent announcement of a $10,000,000 investment in the Westlawn area is a testament to Mayor Franklin's vision. This will be the largest development ever in the southwest area of the city, expected to create new jobs and opportunities.
Mayor Franklin proposed and implemented a police force, fire, and road supplemental tax resulting in increased safety for Warren citizens and the largest two years of road paving in city history.
Mayor Franklin is the right person to continue leading our city. His record speaks for itself, and I am confident he will continue to make Warren a better.
While the mayor's opponent claims to be committed to improving our city, his record reveals a different story. Despite claiming he will upgrade our city's sewer system, he has voted against sewer upgrade projects 10 times in three years. This candidate also voted four times against supplying police with equipment, indicating he doesn't prioritize public safety. While he says he supports union workers, he voted against certifying the AFSCME union contract in 2020, and against the union contract providing pension pickup in 2021. His negative actions speak louder than his words in support of union families. He claims to support the fire department; yet, he voted against buying two new fire trucks in 2022, putting firefighters and citizens at risk. He voted against 2023 city street repaving program twice. In 2022, he voted against providing funds for indigent burial expenses. He also misrepresented his record in the first sentence of his mailed campaign letter, saying he's served as councilman since 2010. He did not take office until 2018, raising serious questions about his honesty, integrity and math skills. While he is running as a Democrat, the Tribune Chronicle identified him in February 2014 as an organizer and recruiter for the Tea Party, associated with the Republican Party, raising questions about his party affiliation.
Over the last three years, this candidate voted "no" more than the rest of council combined, demonstrating an unwillingness to work with others on solutions. We deserve a leader with the city's best interests at heart.
Mayor Franklin's proven track record of leadership shows he is the better candidate for Warren.
