DEAR EDITOR:
The importance of time management is often swept under the rug to maintain the allure of always working hard and taking no breaks. It is obvious that being overworked and procrastinating both have overall negative effects on productivity as a whole. Poor time management leads people to feeling stressed, becoming overscheduled and providing lower quality work, lower grades and unhealthy eating and sleeping habits.
Luckily, there are simple ways to help organize your time in order to be well balanced and structured, even with a lot on your plate. These methods include using a planner or calendar to organize all schedules, events and due dates; scheduling time to complete certain tasks and making time to relax; cut out procrastination, negative self-talk, overscheduling, perfectionism; and lastly learn to say no to events or activities that you just can not handle. Some benefits of good time management include less stress and anxiety, better quality of work, more time for leisure and recreation and better prioritizing skills. Good time management is a sign of a strong and well-balanced person, using these simple skills can improve many aspects of a person's life.
