Let’s see more cases of government givebacks

DEAR EDITOR:

It was nice to see that Liberty School District Superintendent Joseph Nohra was willing to take a pay cut to $83,000.

I know he can survive because I was never blessed with a salary of that amount in any of the 50 years I worked. But I have lived a very blessed life.

Today I see Trumbull County commissioners are asking for department heads for reductions. Why didn’t our commissioners set the first example and cut their salaries? Our president donates his yearly salary. And NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell just stated he would forgo his salary for a year. Now, maybe big company boards like General Motors, Alcoa, Pfizer, GE, etc., will not award their CEOs bonuses in the millions when our stocks have lost decreased in value. Let’s pray we will see many more good examples.
