Kent State University trustees have approved a plan to spend more than $1 billion over the next 10 years on a makeover at the main campus just about 30 miles to the west.
Last week's vote is set to bring new construction, building renovations, a campus gateway and the creation of bike and walking trails.
The $221 million first phase of the makover will include construction of a new business college, administration building and adjacent parking garage, and renovations to Kent State's fashion school and mixed-use academic and retail space on property the university owns in downtown Kent.
What an amazing investment for the beautiful campus that serves tens of thousands of students each year.
While the investment won't specifically include work at our Kent State University Trumbull campus located here in Champion Township, it certainly can't hurt! For certain, it will help generate even more pride for our students who are part of the growing Kent State college system.
