William Henry Wolford 1943-2026

William Henry Wolford

HOWLAND - William Henry Wolford, 83, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 1, 2026, at his home, in the loving care of his wife, Arlie, and hospice.

The world lost a good man, who was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Braham, Minnesota, a son of Clarence and Nadine Wolford.

Bill was a 1961 graduate of Mora High School in Minnesota, and following high school he joined the United States Navy and really did "see the world!" In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially the trips to the Outer Banks, North Carolina, with his buddies.

On May 8, 1965, he married the love of his life, whom he said would give him a life, Arlowayne Peterson. They were married 61 years ago in Los Angeles, California, in The Little Brown Church. Not loving LA and working at Fisher Body, they took the opportunity to transfer to the General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio, where he worked for 32 years as a supervisor. After his “retirement,” he worked at GM plants in Texas, Wisconsin, Kansas and China.

Bill was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles, where he volunteered as the church handyman. He was also a proud member of AA, where he found friends, respect and sobriety.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Arlie; daughter Rochelle (Kevin) Davies of Philadelphia; son, Daniel (Jennifer) Wolford of Weathersfield; and the sunshine of his life, three grandchildren, Maxwell Wolford, Emma Wolford and Ava Davies. A bonus came with the birth of his great-grandson, Ezra Wolford. He is also survived by his siblings, Sylvia Phillips of Minnesota, Brian (Cathy) Wolford of Minnesota, and Kathy (Tom) Davis of Mantua; as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow calling hours at 1 p.m. Saturday, with pastor and friend, the Rev. David Conrad of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 56 North Chestnut St. Niles, OH 44446.
