WARREN - Sugarnine Smith Crawford, 87, of Warren, died at 5:57 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following complications from a short illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Selma, Alabama, the daughter of Ben and Ada McConnel Smith.
Sugarnine was employed with Trumbull Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2009.
She was a member of the New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Edward Crawford Sr. in 1959, he died in 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Crawford Jr. of Hope Mills, North Carolina and Eric Crawford of Warren; two daughters, Elaine Harsch of Warren and Sue Smith of Hope Mills, North Carolina; one brother, Bennie Smith of Long Island, New York; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Crawford Sr., whom she married in 1959; eight brothers and one sister.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
